Verizon Wireless added 58 new cell sites to its Charleston network, and the additions will affect the company’s customers in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties, Verizon Wireless announced today.
“The best network continues to get better,” said Jerry Fountain, regional president for Verizon Wireless, in a news release. “We are committed to continuing to perfect our network so that our customers know they can depend on us every time they use their wireless devices. With the addition of these towers, we have achieved network enhancements in just one year that would have taken nearly 10 years to complete with a traditional build program.”
Verizon Wireless has invested more than $165 million in South Carolina to improve its network. The company has coverage across 25,306 square miles of the state, and 4G LTE covers 55% of South Carolina’s population.
