Force Protection began installing combat-related equipment on 292 Strykers earlier in April. Employees in Ladson are performing the work, and the Port of Charleston will ship the completed vehicles to Afghanistan.
Workers are installing communication, protection and situational-awareness equipment on the Strykers, and work will be finished in January 2013.
Force Protection completed its $360 million merger with General Dynamics in December.
