The Lowcountry welcomed a new supplier for The Boeing Co. Monday, when Key Logistics Solutions cut the ribbon on its Hanahan facility.
The company will provide supply chain services for Boeing’s North Charleston plant, which is producing 787 Dreamliners for the aerospace giant. Key Logistics Solutions acquired more than 50,000 square feet of commercial warehouse space and will hire 26 employees to support its work with Boeing.
Marco Cavazzoni, the vice president and general manager for Boeing South Carolina; Sylvester Hester, president and CEO of Key Logistics Solutions; and local government officials attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Boeing expects to complete its first Dreamliner this spring. In its earnings report, Boeing reported it expected to deliver roughly 40 Dreamliners in 2012. Once the North Charleston and Puget Sound facilities reach full production, the company will be producing 10 planes a month, three from North Charleston and seven from Puget Sound.
