The Lowcountry Food Bank’s new president and CEO, Pat Walker, will start in her new position Tuesday.
Walker will oversee annual distribution of more than 18 million pounds of food and will lead a staff of 40.
The food bank has facilities in Charleston, Myrtle Beach and Yemassee.
“I am honored to share this news with the community,” said Mark Smith, board chairman for Lowcountry Food Bank, in a news release. “Pat’s commitment to excellence in all that she is involved in, combined with her service-above-self attitude and years of experience in ending hunger, will serve her well in her new position at the Lowcountry Food Bank.”
Walker worked for the food bank’s partner, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, for 10 years. She became president and CEO of East Cooper Meals on Wheels in 2006 and served as director of operations for four years.
Under her leadership, East Cooper Meals on Wheels increased its meal delivery by 80%, grew its revenue by 90% and opened a new building, according to the release.
Walker has also served as vice chairwoman of the Lowcountry Food Bank’s board of directors for two years and as secretary for three years.
She replaces executive director D. Jermaine Husser, who took a position with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
