SCRA CEO joins defense industry group's board of trustees

SCRA CEO Bill Mahoney has been elected to the National Defense Industry Association’s board of trustees.

Bill Mahoney, SCRAIn its announcement Tuesday, the association said it will look to Mahoney for guidance and strategic oversight to further the partnerships between government, academia and the defense and security industries.

Mahoney currently serves as CEO for SCRA, an applied research company that provides technology solutions to federal and corporate clients. SCRA’s applied R&D division manages over 100 global programs worth $1.4 billion in contract value. SCRA’s technology ventures division helps early stage technology companies commercialize innovations and create jobs.

“With over 35 years of technology management, work with academia and applied research experience, Bill will bring a unique perspective to NDIA,” said association president and CEO Lawrence P. Farrell. “I am confident that Bill’s knowledge and industry expertise will have a positive impact on our board, and I look forward to working with him in this capacity.”

Since joining SCRA in 2005, Mahoney has presided over the company’s growth to $195 million in annual revenues from $74 million and initiated its technology ventures division.

Mahoney previously served as president of SCT Utility Systems in Columbia and served on the SCRA board prior to joining the company. His early work experience included stints at Honeywell and Digital Equipment Corp., followed by several technology startups.
