The Medical University of South Carolina has taken the “interim” out of Lisa Saladin’s title, making her dean of the school’s College of Health Professions.
Saladin received the job, which must be approved by the board of trustees, based on her performance as executive associate dean for the college and as interim dean during the last year, according to a news release from the university.
“Dr. Saladin is also accorded extraordinary respect for her accomplishments as a faculty member, as evidenced by her numerous honors for her teaching at MUSC and beyond and her national reputation in her academic discipline of physical therapy,” Mark Sothmann, vice president for academic affairs and provost at MUSC, said in the news release. “Her expertise is further evidenced in her scholarship and through her insightful service to the college, MUSC and on the national level.”
At MUSC, Saladin has served as director of the physical therapy education program, chairwoman of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and chairwoman of the Department of Health Professions. She also led the design and implementation of a distance degree program for physical therapy in Greenville.
Saladin has received three University Teaching Excellence Awards, has been designated a Master Teacher by the board of trustees and received an award for teaching excellence from the American Physical Therapy Association.
Saladin earned her bachelor’s degree in medical rehabilitation physical therapy and a master’s degree in anatomy from the University of Manitoba. She received her doctorate in physical therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
