The InterTech Group is bringing an aerospace manufacturer and about 350 jobs to North Charleston, the company announced this morning.
TIGHitco, pronounced T-I-G-hit-co, a subsidiary of InterTech, will invest between $30 million and $40 million in North Charleston for a roughly 300,000-square-foot facility.
“The InterTech Group is thrilled to be able to create new jobs and generate economic opportunities for South Carolina,” said Anita Zucker, chairwoman and CEO of InterTech.
TIGHitco is an industrial and aerospace engineering, design, manufacturing and repair company. The firm has other locations in Georgia, Connecticut and Mexico. North Charleston’s facility will be the aerospace subsidiary’s sixth manufacturing facility.
“The Southeast is becoming a major hub for the aerospace industry,” said Jonathan Zucker, president of InterTech. “And by opening a facility in South Carolina, we will have the ability to provide better service to our customers.”
The facility will be in Palmetto Commerce Park and will be built in phases. The first phase consists of 120,000 square feet is expected to be completed in the fall of 2012. The timeline for the remaining phases will be determined by customer needs and needed capacity, the company said.
