A client of Charleston-based Benefitfocus is expanding its relationship with the Web-based benefits management firm and transitioning to an electronic billing system for its 180,000 members, the company announced today
Benefitfocus will provide its eBilling software to CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield’s direct-to-consumer market. The new system replaces a paper-driven billing system the insurer previously used to manage accounts.
With the eBilling interface, customers can manage and pay their bills online through a Web-based portal in a similar fashion to online bill paying or banking.
CareFirst, one of the largest health care insurers in the Mid-Atlantic region with more than 3.4 million customers in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia, previously used Benefitfocus products to manage online enrollment, billing and data exchange for its group market.
Benefitfocus is the nation’s largest health care and benefits software provider.
