In celebration of the course’s 30th birthday, Wild Dunes Resort is giving golfers a chance to play the oceanfront Links Course, designer Tom Fazio’s first-ever solo course, and help the organization give back to the community.

The resort is offering a 1980s-inspired golf package for $225 per person per night, including a round of golf on The Links Course or Harbor Course, resort accommodations, a flashback ’80s music CD and a signature 1980s-style anniversary golf hat. The offer is available for stays Sept. 7 through Dec. 29.

In addition, the first group to tee off on the Links Course each day in September will be asked to choose a group from several predetermined charities to receive a Wild Dunes golf gift certificate.

Each certificate, good for a foursome on one of the property’s two courses, can be used as the charity sees fit, whether that’s to auction it off to raise money, give it to top volunteers or give it to underprivileged people they serve.

Call 877-221-0901 for reservations.

To celebrate the year (1886) that wealthy cotton merchant Francis Silas Rodgers built the Wentworth Mansion to house his family, the historic hotel is offering a special deal. Guests who spend two nights at the hotel, downtown Charleston’s only AAA Five Diamond hotel, will receive their third night for $18.86 (plus taxes). The offer is good Sunday through Thursday only during the month of September.

Charleston fashion designer Julie Wheat and her Cavortress clothing line have been selected via online voting as one of six finalists at St. Louis Fashion Week, taking place Sept. 7-11.

Finalists will show their collections at 6 p.m. Tuesday before a panel of judges. The runway presentations will determine one top winner of the Project: Design! competition. The winner will receive a state-of-the art website, a fashion spread in Alive Magazine and more.

Those interested can follow along online; Wheat plans to post video blogs on the Cavortress site and on her Facebook page beginning Monday.

Cavortress is the only Southern clothing line selected in this year’s competition.

Cavortress is a “ladylike yet licentious” line of eco-friendly clothing and accessories. Each piece is constructed with at least 80% vintage, recycled or deadstock materials. Garments are available online and at House of Sage in Charleston.
