I am the law!
Have you ever wanted to be the butt of bottom-feeding jokes at cocktail parties without the hassle of exorbitant pay and a lifestyle burdened with the trappings of luxury?
If so, you probably won’t object to the latest program from Trident Technical College’s Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development.
It’s called Law School for Non-Lawyers, and it will transform you from mope to Matlock in no time. Topics covered in the class include: an overview of state courts; alternative dispute resolution; juvenile justice and child protection; and family law.
You’ll also sustain information from other areas such as: real estate/landlord tenant law; wills, estates and probate; health care and elder law; South Carolina workers’ compensation law; employment law; bankruptcy law; consumer law and debt collection; criminal law; and torts.
Speakers are South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Program volunteers. The class meets from 6 to 9 p.m. each Tuesday from Sept. 14 through Oct. 26 at Trident’s Main Campus in North Charleston. Registration fee is $45, which includes materials.
Surf’s up (on your computer)
If the only wave you’ll be riding today is one of depression because you’re chained to a desk and not going Johnny Utah in the big surf of Hurricane Earl, a trio of websites are offering a glimpse at what you are missing.
Follyweather, Follywaves and IOP Pier and Surfcam all have live surf cams so that you can at least see the waves, if not catch one. NOW GET BACK TO WORK!
