A computer services company based in Summerville has acquired a company in Charleston as part of a strategic growth plan, according to the company’s founder and president.

Roger Swanson, president of Computer Network Enterprises, said his company has acquired ComputerTechRx, located on Folly Road, to extend services to a larger client base in the Charleston area. ComputerTechRx President Derick Siebert and his staff will join Computer Network Enterprises as part of the merger.

“CTRx is a well respected company, and we’re excited to have them as part of our team,” Swanson said in a statement.

Computer Network Enterprises’ business consultant, Ray Schipani, said the company purchased ComputerTechRx to leverage the strengths of both companies. He said Swanson decided to make the move after working on an expansion plan and seeing potential for adding clients.

“CTRx is a good fit for that plan because of their presence in the Charleston marketplace,” said Schipani, who works with Business Development Solutions LLC, a Charleston-based management planning and business consultant company. “Together, there are definitely going to be improvements and enhancements in the offerings CTRx can provide its customers.”

Schipani said that Computer Network Enterprises’ typical customer is a small to medium-sized business but that the company can handle work for larger companies as well. He said Swanson made a commitment to licensing, training and certification in anticipation of increased industry demand for network design, implementation and support.

“They (Computer Networks Enterprises) have a talented team of IT professionals who have been providing products and services for a roster of clients for a number of years,” Schipani said. “CTRx gets the enhanced capability of the CNE team. CNE gets customer base and team with CTRx.”
