S.C. Maritime Foundation hires new CEO




Will Haynie, who has been the executive director of the Lowcountry Open Land Trust for the past seven years, is the new CEO for the S.C. Maritime Foundation.

The S.C. Maritime Foundation has named Will Haynie as its new chief executive officer.

Haynie has been the executive director of the Lowcountry Open Land Trust for the past seven years. He has nearly 20 years’ experience as a nonprofit executive.

The S.C. Maritime Foundation promotes educational opportunities for students of South Carolina, focusing on the history, math, science and literature of the state’s water resources. The foundation owns and operates the tall ship Spirit of South Carolina

Haynie began work with the S.C. Maritime Foundation on Dec. 15.

The foundation’s interim executive director, Sarah Piwinski, has been promoted to the position of chief operating officer/chief financial officer. Piwinski has been with the foundation since 2006, when she began as the director of education.
