U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is scheduled to deliver a lecture Nov. 9 at the University of South Carolina. The lecture, titled “The Politics of Tolerance,” is intended to highlight the importance of civility and tolerance in politics and everyday life.

Ron PaulThe event comes several weeks after U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina made remarks regarding Paul to constituents at a town hall meeting, saying he would not allow Paul to “hijack” the Republican Party.

Paul was among the hopefuls for the Republican presidential nomination in the 2008 election. In addition to his S.C. appearance, he also has scheduled a visit to Iowa next month. Iowa’s and South Carolina’s status as early primary states has fueled some speculation among media outlets that Paul will run for president again in 2012.

Campaign for Liberty, Young Americans for Liberty, USC Honors College and the Carolina Debate Union will host a rally on campus with Paul prior to the lecture.

The event is open to the public at no cost. It will take place at 7 p.m. at the Carolina Coliseum.
