Berkeley County’s annual Delinquent Real Property Tax Sale is being held Dec. 7 in the county’s administration building in Moncks Corner.
This year saw an increase of more than 600 unpaid parcels, up to 2,194 from last year’s 1,527.
“We expect a larger than normal crowd,” said Berkeley County Tax Collector Virginia Hamilton. “Last year, 230 people registered to bid on 1,527 parcels.”
Property owners who have delinquent taxes have until 5 p.m. on Dec. 4 to pay the taxes to prevent the property from being sold. Cash, money order, certified checks and attorney’s trust/escrow checks will be the only acceptable methods of payment.
The sale will start at 10 a.m. Dec. 7.
