This year’s Small Business Innovation Summit & Expo features keynote speeches by innovators and entrepreneurs and gives startups a chance to network with researchers and venture capital investors.
The conference is scheduled for Nov. 4 at Trident Technical College’s Complex for Economic Development, in building 920.
The summit showcases small businesses in the Charleston region and provides business-to-business connections, celebrates entrepreneurialism and presents topics from expert speakers on issues important to small business.
The winners of the New Ideas for a New Carolina business innovation contest also will be announced.

Included in this year’s keynote address is recent Daniel Island resident and founder of TwitPic, Noah Everett, who will discuss his journey in creating the high-profile Twitter application that is used around the world.

Some of the featured topics at this year’s summit, which is presented by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce ThinkTEC initiative:

- Breakout sessions on starting, growing and exiting a business; franchising; funding; marketing; branding; innovation; human resources; health care; and work force development.
- An exhibition hall featuring companies large and small, startup to mature, showcasing their products and services.
- The “Resources Roundtable,” featuring interactive roundtable discussions with experts answering questions related to all aspects of business.
- A culinary showcase featuring an interactive display of the local world-class talent that has turned the region into a culinary destination.
- The announcement of the winners of the New Ideas SC contest.
