Sims Bark, a company that provides a variety of products to the landscape industry, will invest $5 million to expand its operation in Orangeburg County.

Sims Bark products include soils, mulches, bagged rocks, concrete stepping stones, retainer walls and pavers.

“With the addition of our new concrete manufacturing facility in Bowman, we plan to further expand our market share by distributing high-quality pavers and retaining wall blocks along the east coast and to provide the high level of service that our customers expect. We appreciate the support we have received from Orangeburg County and the State of South Carolina,” said Craig McCullough, vice president of sales and marketing for Sims Bark.

Alabama-based Sims Bark opened its new manufacturing facility in Orangeburg County in 2007, investing $8.5 million and creating 40 new jobs.

“Sims Bark Co. understands the value of expanding in a pro-industry region and the many advantages of a location along the I-95/I-26 corridor,” said Central SC Alliance Chairman Jim Apple. “More and more companies that locate a facility in the Central SC region are expanding their operations within five years. We are very pleased that Sims Bark Co. is growing and continuing to invest in Orangeburg County.”

The S.C. Department of Commerce, Orangeburg County and the Orangeburg County Development Commission joined in the announcement.
