Regal Logistics plans to open a new distribution center in Charleston on Oct. 1.

The new warehouse for the company, based in Fife, Wash., will have 200,000 square feet of space. It is located on Charleston Regional Parkway, four miles from the Port of Charleston’s Wando Terminal.

“If there’s a more efficient, cost-effective way to move product through the supply chain, Regal Logistics will find it, improve on it and offer it to our customers,” said Regal vice president Garry Neeves. “That’s just what we’re doing with our new warehouse in Charleston.”

With the widening of the Panama Canal, more imports are expected to pass through from Asia, increasing volume to Southeastern ports.

According to a news release announcing the expansion, Regal is the No. 1 provider of third-party logistics services for Wal-Mart suppliers in the Pacific Northwest. It also distributes products to Target, Kohl’s and Toys ‘R Us.
