The company was one of 15 businesses across the nation to receive the award, which was presented to the companies on Sept. 17 at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C.

Consolidated Electrical Distributors Inc. was recently awarded a Freedom Award from the U.S. Defense Secretary for its support of employees in the National Guard and Reserve.
CED, based in North Charleston, buys and distributes electrical products.
The company was one of 15 businesses across the nation to receive the award, which was presented to the companies on Sept. 17 at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. The Employer Support Freedom Award was presented by Deputy Defense Secretary William Lynn.
CED supports its employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve by providing back pay, sick pay, profit sharing and medical benefits during deployments.
“They went above what was required not because they had to, but because it was the right thing to do,” said the company’s nomination.
The Freedom Award was established in 1996 under the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
