The Army has ordered 48 new Buffalo vehicles from Force Protection Inc., the Ladson company announced today.
The $52.8 million contract is for Force Protection’s largest vehicle. The order is from the Army’s Tank-automotive and Armaments Command.
To accommodate the new order, Force Protection amended and extended its lease for one of its three facilities through June 30, 2014.
“This order from TACOM is representative of the ongoing demand and requirements for the Buffalo as an integral component of the United States Army’s route clearance companies for the long term,” Force Protection CEO Michael Moody said. “The extension of our lease for the Buffalo manufacturing facility is an indication of our commitment to meeting the current and future requirements for Buffalo and its vital mission.”
Workers in Ladson are expected to complete the order by Jan. 31.
