A 2,500-square-foot showroom has opened on Upper King Street as part of what Mayor Joe Riley has called the “continuing evolution of economy development” in Charleston.

The historic King Street building where SieMatic Kitchen Interior Design located was restored a decade ago after Hurricane Hugo ripped apart the city and surrounding areas of eastern South Carolina. The company said the location was ideally suited for a showroom and maintains the city’s architectural style along with surrounding upscale shops, restaurants and nightlife.

More than 300 people attended the opening last month of SieMatic’s showroom in downtown Charleston’s Upper King Design District. Riley spoke about the importance of preserving the character of the historic city and how SieMatic’s contribution fit into that character.
