Brandon Advertising and Public Relations has hired Dan Benner as an art director and Sarah Swingle as an account coordinator. Benner will oversee the creation, development and production of advertising materials for the agency’s clients. Swingle’s will attend client meetings, prepare media requests and assist the account management team with production and creative ads.

Trio Solutions Inc. has promoted Jessica Johnston to vice president of client relations and Nancy Lyons to office manager. Johnston was formerly the director of administration and business development. Previously, Lyons was the administrative assistant.

Media consultant Elizabeth McDowell has launched ELM Publicity, a firm supporting emerging companies through public relations, positioning, executive profile development and positive brand awareness.

Arcadia Publishing has hired Teresa Simmons as a publicity manager and Sarah Bodkin as a marketing assistant. Simmons has seven years of marketing experience and recently worked with the South Carolina Aquarium and New South Mortgage Corp. Bodkin has five years of experience and has worked with the Harvard Clinical Research Institute and Applewood Books.

Kristina Hill has joined Smart Family Publications as the creative director. Hill spent the past four years as the design director for Charleston Home + Design magazine.

Lindsay Street has joined Summerville Communications Inc. as a reporter for the Goose Creek Gazette and the Berkeley Independent. Previously, she worked as the editorial assistant for SC Biz News LLC, publisher of the Charleston Regional Business Journal and SCBIZ magazine.

SC Biz News LLC has hired Pam Edmonds as an account executive for SCBIZ magazine. Prior to her position with SC Biz News, Edmonds was a senior account executive with Clear Channel Media in Greenville.


Fish Restaurant has promoted Jodie Battles to general manager and Evan Powell to manager. Battles has more than eight years of experience in the food and beverage industry, and she came to Fish in June 2007 as assistant manager. Powell has more than seven years of food and beverage experience, and he joined Fish in early 2007 as a bartender.

Country Club of Charleston has named Corey Elliott as the club’s executive chef. Elliott was recently the executive chef and owner of Cordavi Restaurant. Patrick King has joined Roof Repair Inc. in North Charleston as general manager. He will oversee day-to-day operations for the company. King has more than 19 years of public and private small business management consulting, including nearly 10 years as a commercial lender with nonprofit economic corporations providing loans to small businesses.  

Maren Anderson has launched Global Awakening on King Street. Anderson’s store was inspired by the movement toward fair trade with developing countries.

K. Morgan, a women’s clothing and accessories store on King Street, has been launched by Kristin Williams.

Donna Boast has been promoted to managing director of A Part Harty. Boast began working for the company in April 2007.

PrettySMART! LLC has been launched by Julie McWherter, who serves as creative director, and Laura Varn, who serves as president and CEO.

Renewed Rooms has hired Tammy Trenholm and Tracy Moses to the Redefining LUXE Team serving Charleston, Myrtle Beach and Savannah, Ga. Trenholm and Moses specialize in vacant and owner-occupied home staging, interior re-design, paint consultations and also offer builder design services.

Meredith Nelson, marathon runner and owner of Primetime Fitness on Sullivan’s Island, will manage City Running Tours-Charleston.

LS3P Associates Ltd. has hired Laura Stroud as a project accountant and Jamier Hunt as a specifications writer.

The Art Institute of Charleston has named Terry C. Fox as executive director of career and student services, Clare Kehoe as assistant director of admissions and Christopher D. Stallard as a culinary instructor. Fox was previously employed as director of student life and director of student success by Johnson & Wales University in Charleston. Kehoe was the assistant director of admissions at The Art Institute of Indianapolis. Stallard was previously the executive chef at the Orangery in Knoxville, Tenn.

Trident Technical College has named Louester A.S. Robinson as the director of the college’s Palmer Campus in downtown Charleston. Robinson most recently served as dean of the college’s Division of Community, Family and Child Studies.

William P. Early has become a partner at Pierce Herns Sloan & McLeod LLC. Early practices personal injury, medical malpractice and toxic tort law.

Franklin Daniels has joined Nexsen Pruet as special counsel and will work in the Charleston and Myrtle Beach offices. Daniels will concentrate his practice in multiple areas within the real estate group. Previously, Daniels served as senior vice president at Burroughs and Chapin Co. Inc. in Myrtle Beach.

Buist Moore Smythe McGee announced that James M. Wilson has become a principal of the firm. Wilson is a transactional lawyer who focuses his practice on real estate and business acquisitions, dispositions, finance and development.

Jim Parker has been promoted to general sales manager for Comcast Spotlight in Charleston. Parker joined Comcast in 2000 and served as local sales manager for the past three years.

Grubb&Ellis Barkley Fraser has hired Todd Garrett as an industrial associate with a focus on industrial sales and leasing. Garrett has years of experience analyzing investment properties and experience in commercial development.

Stephanie Howard and Sean Hethington have joined the real estate office of Elaine Brabham and Associates LLC. Howard formerly was with First Realty of Charleston. Hethington previously worked with First Realty of Charleston.

Susie Schumm has joined the Mount Pleasant office of AgentOwned Realty. Schumm has worked in real estate for three years and is an active committee member of South Carolina Association of Realtors and Charleston Trident Association of Realtors.
