Robert M. Craig III has joined Berenyi Inc.’s design team as a civil designer for land development projects. Prior to joining Berenyi, Craig worked for American Engineering Consultants Inc. as a CAD drafter technician.

 

Kathy Dawson and Elizabeth Horn have joined Stephen Herlong & Associates Architects. Dawson joined the firm as the office manager and is also responsible for bookkeeping. Horn joined the firm as an interior architecture and design intern.

 

Christopher Rose Architects has promoted Tyler Smyth and Martin Cizler to studio managers. Smyth joined the firm in 2003 after an internship. Cizler joined the firm in 2005 as a project architect.

 

Charles T. Dwyer has joined the Charleston office of Earth Tech as the program director for the transportation group. Dwyer will help develop and expand the company’s transportation market in the state. Dwyer has more than 17 years of experience as a professional engineer, specializing in transportation. Previously, he served as transportation project manager for the Cooper River Bridge Replacement project.

 

CRG has promoted Lee Harant to mechanical engineering team leader. Lee has been with CRG for three years and has more than 26 years of mechanical engineering experience.

 

Rosenblum Coe Architects Inc. hired Alison Cave, Jarret Hudson and McCall Holman as interns.

 

Mount Pleasant-based consulting landscape architecture and civil engineering design firm Seamon, Whiteside & Associates Inc. hired Chris Troutman. Troutman will provide project coordination for commercial and residential projects.

 

Jerome R. English and Benjamin S. Whitener have been named principals at Cummings & McCrady Inc. architects. Mathew D. Belt and Scott A. Hendrix have joined Cummings & McCrady.

 

HDR promoted Robert F. Clair to senior vice president and South Carolina program manager. Clair joined HDR in October 2005 as vice president. In the past year, the company has hired Russ Touchberry as a project engineer, Michael Darby as a hydrologist, Janel Weston as a hydraulic engineer-in-training, Tracy Lewis as a senior project manager, Melissa Ratledge as an environmental scientist, Mark S. Swatta as the national business class director for alternative delivery, Jason A. Lemieux as an environmental scientist, Walter R. Fletcher as an environmental engineer, Jason Johnson as a roadway design engineer, Chun Wong as a senior bridge engineer, Creta Opyd as project controls manager and Kimberly Langdale as administrative assistant. In addition to the new hires, the Charleston office also added an architecture division. Ronnie Bostain and Bob Olson will head up the division. David Parker, an engineer-in-training, has relocated to the Charleston office from Rock Hill, where he worked for HDR for more than three years and served as a roadway design engineer.

 

Jarrard Nowell & Russell LLC, a Charleston-based accounting and business advisory firm, has hired Lauren Huckaby as office manager and marketing assistant. Huckaby will oversee daily operations of the firm, review tax documents, and act as a liaison for marketing communications.

 

Aimee Glover has joined Ameris Bank as a mortgage sales manager in Charleston. Prior to joining Ameris Bank, Glover was employed with Beazer Mortgage Corp. as a mortgage loan counselor.

 

South Carolina Bank and Trust has promoted Larry Windham to assistant vice president. Windham joined the bank in 2003 as a management associate and credit administrator in the Columbia office.

 

Nicole F. Bailey, Andrea Davis and Rebecca Jewell have joined First Federal as managers of financial centers in the Lowcountry. Bailey was named financial center manager of the Knightsville office on Central Avenue in Summerville. Davis was named manager of the bank’s West Ashley office on Savannah Highway. Jewell assumes the management role in First Federal’s office on Rivers Avenue office in North Charleston.

 

Jessica R. Rader has joined South Carolina Federal Credit Union as a manager of the contact center. Rader previously was operations manager for OSI.

 

Morgan Keegan & Co. Inc. has promoted Jennifer Mills to first vice president. Mills is an associate in the firm’s fixed income banking office in Charleston.

 

Sequence has hired Cory Lynch as an associate. Before joining Sequence full-time, Lynch worked with Sequence as a summer analyst. Anne Parker has been promoted within the company to analyst.

 

Respite Care Ministries, a nonprofit organization providing respite care programs for individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, has appointed Laura Stefanelli to executive director. Stefanelli has a strong background in social work and elder care in Chicago and Charleston. As executive director, Stefanelli will work closely with the advisory board on major elements of Respite Care Ministries’ care strategy and operations.  

 

Coastal Community Foundation has promoted Christine Beddia to director of marketing and communications. Beddia will oversee the foundation’s strategic marketing efforts and overall communications. She has been with the foundation for three years.

 

The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce has promoted Fran Johnson to senior member relations executive and membership director of hospitality. Johnson joined the chamber as a member relations executive two years ago. She has more than 15 years of experience in corporate relations and sales management in the hospitality and corporate travel management industries. The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce has also hired Brooke Stegall as public policy and regional advancement coordinator and Chip Fell as business development director.

 

Joanne L. Brockway, a real estate sales agent, has joined Keller Williams Island Realty. Brockway has an extensive background in the field of real estate sales and marketing, and she most recently was a real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty in Mount Pleasant.

 

Ron Rash and Kathy Khalil have joined Elaine Brabham and Associates Real Estate on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard. Rash was formerly with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Khalil was formerly with First Realty of Charleston.

 

Patricia Garvin has joined Century 21 Properties Plus Inc. as a real estate agent and will work out of the Metro North office in North Charleston. Garvin, who has more than four years experience in the industry, was a former agent with Century 21 Properties Plus.

 

Caldwell Commercial Real Estate Service has hired Philip M. Owens as a sales associate. Philip has 14 years of economic development experience. He currently sits on the board of directors for the S.C. World Trade Center and is a member of the S.C. Economic Development Association.

 

Grubb&Ellis Barkley Fraser hired Todd Garrett as an industrial associate with a focus on industrial sales and leasing. Garrett has years of experience analyzing investment properties and experience in commercial development.

 

Fish Restaurant has promoted Jodie Battles to general manager and Evan Powell to manager. Battles has more than eight years of experience in the food and beverage industry, and she came to Fish in June 2007 as assistant manager. Powell has more than seven years of food and beverage experience, and he joined Fish in early 2007 as a bartender.

 

Country Club of Charleston has named Corey Elliott as the club’s executive chef. Elliott was recently the executive chef and owner of Cordavi Restaurant.

 

Brandon Advertising and Public Relations has hired Dan Benner as an art director and Sarah Swingle as an account coordinator. Benner will oversee the creation, development and production of advertising materials for the agency’s clients. Swingle’s will attend client meetings, prepare media requests and assist the account management team with production and creative ads.

 

Trio Solutions Inc. promoted Jessica Johnston to vice president of client relations and Nancy Lyons to office manager. Johnston was formerly the director of administration and business development. Previously, Lyons was the administrative assistant.

 

Media consultant Elizabeth McDowell launched ELM Publicity, a firm supporting emerging companies through public relations, positioning, executive profile development and positive brand awareness.

 

Patrick King has joined Roof Repair Inc. in North Charleston as general manager. He will oversee day-to-day operations for the company. King has more than 19 years of public and private small business management consulting, including nearly 10 years as a commercial lender with nonprofit economic corporations providing loans to small businesses. 

 

Maren Anderson launched Global Awakening on King Street. Anderson’s store was inspired by the movement toward fair trade with developing countries.

 

Kristin Williams launched K. Morgan, a women’s clothing and accessories store on King Street.

 

Meredith Nelson, marathon runner and owner of Primetime Fitness on Sullivan’s Island, will manage City Running Tours - Charleston.

 

Safe-Ports, the security and logistics division of CaroLinks, has appointed Joseph Dorsey to vice president and chief technology officer, Jamie A. Damsker to vice president of strategic planning and business development and Michael Staab to director of logistics technologies. Formerly, Dorsey served as chief technology officer of Westech Interactive Security, Damsker was an associate of Booz Allen Hamilton and Staab served as a solutions architect with SRA Spectrum Solutions Group.

 

Robby Robbins has launched Robert D. Robbins Attorney at Law LLC in Summerville. Robbins practices personal injury, criminal defense, business litigation, local government and land use planning.

 

Palmetto Behavioral Health, a Charleston-based mental health provider offering services for mental illness and addictive disease at four South Carolina facilities, has promoted Karen Karpick as an art therapist. Karpick will conduct group art therapy sessions with both psychiatric and substance abuse inpatients and outpatients. Karpick, who joined Palmetto Behavioral Health in 2006, will continue to serve as an assessment counselor and MET clinician part-time at Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health in North Charleston.

 

Jason Carmel, Darroll Barton II, Chasity Kennedy and Lorraine Crosland have been named as assistant directors of admissions for The Art Institute of Charleston. They are responsible for recruiting new students to downtown campus.

 

Sawgrass Technologies Inc. hired Carla Etheredge as a technical support manager, Mac Kuhl as an inside sales representative, Justin Dibiase as a technical support specialist, Weldon Pundt as a color solutions manager and Terry Davis as an event coordinator at its Mount Pleasant location.

 

Cris Gillespie, Ron Clark and Meaghan Clark joined the staff of Somerby of Mount Pleasant, a full-service retirement community located in Park West scheduled to open in May of 2008. Gillespie was named executive director, Ron Clark was named director of marketing and Meaghan Clark was named senior retirement counselor.
