Roaring 20 winner: International Public Works LLC

Consistent quality, sound planning and a maturing staff have been the keys to International Public Works LLC’s growth and success. Between 2005 and 2006, the company’s revenue increased 181%.

L. Kai Yeh, member/manger with the company, said International Public Works continues to meet and exceed the expectations of its clients, which has resulted in larger and even more contracts.

“We set high goals and standards for everyone in the company and hold them accountable for meeting them,” he said.

One of the greatest changes within the company has been an expanding organizational structure, which required the company to reevaluate its strategic plan.

“Your business plan is only as good as the capability of the people in the organization,” Yeh said. “You need to surround yourself with people who share the vision and principles that are important for the success of the business.”

Giving employees the flexibility to make decisions also comes with a growing and changing company.

“We have learned to get out of the trenches and give our staff the latitude to make decisions,” Yeh said. “This has allowed us to focus on the bigger picture and keep the company pointed in the right direction.”
