Poogan’s Porch hired Paul Pfeil as executive chef. Pfeil has previously cooked at Chicago’s Mia Cucina and New Orleans’ Dakota.

Susan Wigley has been selected as the culinary director and Marilyn Hrubic Burstein has been named vice president and dean of Academic Affairs for The Art Institute of Charleston.

Trident Academy hired Joseph J. Ferber as headmaster following the retirement of Myron Harrington, who has served as headmaster since 1992.

Bird Decorative Hardware and Bath promoted Sam Marano to president. Marano has been with Bird for 14 years, spending the last seven opening and operating a location in Charlotte, N.C.

Wellspring Fitness and Massage hired Brooksi Hudson and Melissa Kurzeja as licensed massage therapists.

Buist Moore Smythe McGee announced that James E. Weatherholtz has become a principal of the firm. Weatherholtz practices general civil litigation with an emphasis on construction law, surety and product liability cases.

Charleston RiverDogs Baseball Club hired Megan Green as director of community relations, Jon Hillard as assistant director of media relations, Jason Wells as assistant food and beverage director and Henry Thames as assistant groundskeeper. Noel Blaha was promoted to box office manager from his previous position as assistant director of media relations.

Drs. Robert R. Oliverio and Gerard F. Blake have relocated to the Charleston area to join Lowcountry Medical Associates

Peter Nielsen joined Trident Health System as an administrative resident.

Scientific Investors hired Erik Hofstrom as an LPL investment adviser serving the Charleston and Orangeburg areas. 

FirstPoint Mortgage Resources, an Equifax system affiliate and sales agent that provides residential mortgage credit solutions, hired Rhonda Babinski as regional account executive. She will serve banks and mortgage companies in South Carolina and North Carolina. 

Ashley River Mortgage LLC hired Carma Kolgaklis as a mortgage loan officer in the Goose Creek office.

Rodney Overton joined the Evening Post Digital division of Evening Post Publishing Co. as vice president for content. He has 10 years of experience in online publication, most recently as director of digital media for KHOU.com in Houston and WRAL.com in Raleigh, N.C. 

WCSC-TV hired Darryl Huger as assistant news director and promoted Melissa McIntosh to executive producer and Joy Schied Nelson to managing editor.

E. Boineau & Co., a Charleston-based strategic marketing communications and public relations firm, hired Tiffany Jonas as an associate account executive.

The Bosworth Group, an integrated marketing, advertising and public relations firm, hired Joanne Dry as media director to the company’s media planning and buying unit, which evaluates and selects broadcast, print and online advertising options for the agency’s clients.

The James Doran Co., a real estate development and investment company based in Charleston, hired Eric R. Smithers as executive vice president of operations and marketing and promoted Robert J. Doran Jr. to CEO, Shane J. Doran to president, Peter J. Harper to executive vice president of finance and John A. Henry Jr. to executive vice president of development, leasing and sales and legal affairs.

The Southern Shores Real Estate Group hired Jeff Gallman, Julie Dailey and Christin Sirline as new real estate agents covering the Charleston region. Gallman has sales experience in the residential real estate market and in other major industries. Dailey previously owned and operated a retail jewelry store in Summerville. Sirline has experience working directly in the new home construction industry.

Coldwell Banker Coastal Properties in Summerville hired three new agents: Susan L. Brock, Anna Olszowy and Jocelynn Jones.

Jarrard Nowell & Russell LLC hired Barbara McHenry as accounting intern. Previously, she interned with Henderson, Steffes & Gouger and also has worked with Southern Provisions.

Communities In Schools of the Charleston Area Inc. hired Rachel Dowling and Roger Greene. Dowling teaches at Memminger Elementary School. Greene teaches at St. Stephen Middle School.

Ahern’s Anvil Inc. opened at 89 Brigade St. The shop specializes in ornamental and functional residential and commercial design.
