The Seaside Sea Store, a BP/Amoco fuel and convenience store, opened on 1305 Long Grove Drive between Target and  Franke at Seaside, adjacent to the Rifle Range Road entrance of Seaside Farms.

Juan’s Mexicali, a “dual-culture” restaurant, opened at 2026 Savannah Highway.

The Southern Shores Real Estate Group launched in the Lowcountry with the official opening of its main office in West Ashley. The group is a new real estate brokerage and property management firm formed by the merging of Barnette Hancock & Associates, Hillman Real Estate Inc. and the marketing arm of StoryTeller Publications LLC.

Dolphin Architects and Builders hired Shannon Dwinnell and Roberts Schrauth, and promoted Christine Perry. Dwinnell previously worked for several notable building firms including Solaris Builders, Simonini Builders and Koenig Construction. Schrauth was a project manager for John Wieland Homes before joining Dolphin. Perry was promoted from construction administrator to comptroller.

Rick Karkowski joined Thomas & Hutton Engineering Co. as senior project manager in the water resources group in its Charleston office. Karkowski’s responsibilities will focus on major drainage, flood control and water quality studies/designs.

Robert D. Lesslie joined Christopher Rose Architects PA as an intern architect. Tyler Armistead Smyth was promoted to project architect.

Studio 2LR Inc. hired Abbey Ehman and Dana Herron.  

Arcadis hired engineer-in-training Walt Corbin as engineer and project designer. Corbin will be providing designs on water resources and land development projects in Charleston.

Seamon Whiteside & Associates Inc. hired several full-time staff at its Mount Pleasant headquarters: Andy Ruchin, land planner; Brent Scoggins, project coordinator; and Terry Sullivan, construction services coordinator.

Communities In Schools of the Charleston Area Inc. hired: Charmaine Allen, James Island Middle School; Lorenza Bell, James Island Middle School; Brenda Middleton, Haut Gap Middle School on Johns Island; Leslie Skinner, Frierson Elementary School on Wadmalaw Island; and Courtney Winders, volunteer coordinator, Clark Corporate Academy on James Island.

The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce promoted Ansley Lucas to staff accountant in the finance department. Lucas is responsible for month-end closing procedures, payroll functions, benefits administration, bank and general ledger reconciliations and providing assistance to the director

Southcoast Community Bank hired Rich Billings as senior vice president and senior credit officer, Jerry Beach as a business development officer and Jimmy Hyams as a business development officer. Billings formerly worked for Wachovia as a wealth management relationship advisor. Beach formerly owned Advanced Cellular. Hyams is a former small business owner.

Bill Baber joined MAU Inc. as employment manager in the professional recruiting division on-site at Robert Bosch LLC in Charleston. Baber’s responsibilities will include account management of the internal and external recruiting processes for Bosch.

Blackbaud Inc. hired Bill Fryman as manager of marketing communications, Gary Clarke as manager of technical sales, Bill Desciak as manager of enterprise sales and Matthew Moore as manager of purchasing.

First National hired Heather Tisdale as a customer service representative and Neila Stroman as a commercial banking specialist in its Mount Pleasant office.

Kay Rode joined First Citizens’ Mount Pleasant office as a mortgage banker. Her duties include developing client relationships while providing solutions for financial growth through the use of numerous mortgage products.

Dixon Hughes PLLC promoted Marie Parnell to senior tax associate and Jeremy Gilbert to senior associate in the audit department.

Jeff Carron has joined The Peninsula Co. LLC as a real estate investment and sales consultant. Carron formerly worked at CC&T Real Estate Services for three years, specializing in commercial sales and leasing.

Disher Hamrick & Myers’ West Island office hired Kimber Smith, Sherry McFarlane and Paul Kelley as real estate agents.

Davis Advertising hired Marsha Williams as manager of agency operations; Christian Adams as account executive; Sue Henry Meyer as media director; Molly Michlink as production manager; and Jessica Geiges as receptionist/traffic coordinator.

Cassie Cullins, former director of community relations with the Charleston RiverDogs Baseball Club, accepted a position with Veeck Advertising Professionals.

The Bosworth Group promoted Nic Lauretano to art director. He will have responsibilities for developing concepts and visualizations in print, television and interactive advertisements.

Charleston-based promotional products and branding firm Grand Ideas Inc. promoted Susan Johnson to vice president of retail and product development for Palmetto Ideas, a division of Grand Ideas Inc.

Brittany Hooper joined JMC Charleston as operations manager. Hooper worked in food and beverage for Cintra Restaurant prior to joining JMC Charleston.
