Coldwell Banker Coastal Properties announced seven new hires: Kevin Stubbs joined the Mount Pleasant office; Pam Mitchell, Karen Smith, Tiffany Nichols and Louise Jackson joined the Summerville office; and Christine Howard and “T” Liepman joined Coldwell Banker’s new West Ashley office, located at 1370 Ashley River Road.

Rita Lamar Gatgounis has been promoted to vice president of vacation rentals for Dunes Properties. Gatgounis has worked for Dunes Properties for seven years at both the Folly Beach and Isle of Palms offices. Rebecca Narkiewicz has been promoted to director of real estate administration while still maintaining her duties as assistant to the president at Dunes Properties. She has worked for the company for eight years in both the vacation rental and real estate offices. Dune Properties also hired Adam Killerman, Brian Caldwell and Dustin Ryan into its Folly Beach office.

Philip Gardner joined William Means Real Estate. Gardner has 35 years of experience in international shipping and currently serves as chairman of the membership committee for the Country Club of Charleston.

RE/MAX Lowcountry Real Estate has announced an affiliation with Bill and Jenny Swygert. The Swygerts work from an office at 114 Jungle Road on Edisto Island.

Homeland Realty hired David Seay as sales manager for South Carolina. He will be responsible for leading and managing the residential sales division while focusing on the firm’s commercial real estate activity.

HITT Contracting Inc. promoted Spence Little to senior project manager of its Charleston office. Little joined HITT Contracting in 2002 and as a project manager specialized in tenant build-outs, renovations and new construction. His responsibilities will include proposal and schedule review, scope development and management, value engineering, team organization and quality control.

Mark and Michael Fiem are the new owners of Tidalwave Watersports in Charleston. Tidalwave is a full service water-sports company that offers parasailing, personal watercraft rentals, safari tours and wakeboarding. The company is slated to open two more locations in the Charleston area.

The New York Yankees have named the 2007 coaching staff for their Class A affiliate, the Charleston RiverDogs Baseball Club. Torre Tyson, who spent the past two seasons as hitting coach of the RiverDogs, will be the club’s new manager. Other staff additions are: Mount Pleasant resident Greg Colbrunn, hitting coach; Carlos Reyes; pitching coach; Ralph Henriquez, defensive coach; and Tim Lentych, trainer. The RiverDogs promoted Jim Pfander to assistant general manager; he will continue with his promotional responsibilities at the club.

Richard M. Rumble joined Berchtold Corp. as president of U.S. operations. Prior to joining Berchtold, Rumble spent 21 years in the medical device industry.

Neal Prince & Partners Architects announced promotions for Frank H. Bain, Michael J. Martinez and Cynthia E. Benjamin and the addition of Luci G. Givens. Bain and Martinez have been elected as stockholders of the firm. Benjamin has been promoted to associate. Givens has been hired as the firm’s marketing director. Gable Stubbs, a former partner, has left the firm to pursue other interests.

Troy Maciaszek joined Horner, Eelman and Gearhart Engineering Consultants. Maciaszek is experienced in all aspects of engineering associated with municipal engineering and land development.

Davis & Floyd Inc. named Sean McDonell as an associate to the firm. McDonell will continue his duties as office manager of the engineering/architecture division and civil construction services manager. He has extensive experience in oversight, acquisition, administration and facilities/public works management.

The Sintra Corp. hired James “Eddie” Hughes and Christopher Rinauro as field managers. Each will be responsible for the daily management of the construction process for homes in the Charleston metropolitan area.

ARCADIS hired Madelyn Robinson to its Charleston office as project planner. Robinson’s responsibilities will include mediating with approval agencies in code-related issues, analyzing projects and effectively conducting formal presentations to clients, approval agencies and the general public.

Thomas H. Merrow opened Merrow Business Solutions in Summerville, an independent commercial finance company specializing in equipment leasing. Merrow provides operations management consulting services.

Linda Kennedy joined Community FirstBank as a local vice president and commercial lender. With more than 30 years’ banking experience, Kennedy formerly served as a commercial lender at South Trust Bank, where she was employed for 16 years.

Savage & Savage PA announced that Lauren E. Williams, formerly of New Orleans, has joined the firm’s downtown Charleston office.

Carolina First promoted Paula Ryan to vice president and Matt Waller to assistant vice president. Ryan joined the bank in August 2006. Prior to joining Carolina First, she was employed with First Federal of Charleston as a mortgage loan originator. Waller joined the bank in September 2006. Prior to joining Carolina First, he was employed with Huntington National Bank in Traverse City, Miss., as senior credit analyst.

Dean Harton, a former architect for Arizona-based aircraft service company Landmark Aviation, has returned to Charleston’s Hawthorne Corporation. Harton was previously president of Hawthorne, which will be re-established as a management and investment firm. William E. Harton will join Hawthorne as vice president. In his new role, he will be an investment professional for the firm.

Kelly Kiggans has been promoted to client accounting services senior officer in the East Bay office of Dixon Hughes PLLC. Her responsibilities include planning and reviewing client service engagements, performing and supervising bookkeeping, QuickBooks support and the preparation of basic tax returns, financial statements, payroll and sales tax returns.

Staffmark Staffing services relocated to 5070 International Blvd., Suite 126, in the new McCall Center.

Melissa Whetzel has joined the Charleston Regional Development Alliance to handle investor and community relations. Merle Johnson has joined the CRDA as business manager and project manager. In his role with the alliance, Johnson will serve as the point person for companies interested in expanding in or relocating to the Charleston region.

South Carolina Research Authority hired John Gregg as executive vice president, general manager and chief information officer. Gregg formerly served as president of SCT Utility Systems and most recently was executive vice president of worldwide operations for Indus International. At SCRA, his duties will include management for all digital and physical assets. As CIO, he will provide oversight and strategy to optimize SCRA information assets.

Melanie Lindenmeyer has been named director of student financial services for The Art Institute of Charleston. Lindenmeyer was selected to head the student financial services department.

The Town of Mount Pleasant hired Ashley McKenzie as tourism coordinator. McKenzie has more than four years of marketing experience.

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP has elected two new partners in its Charleston office: Brian Duffy and Ryan Earhart. Duffy primarily practices litigation and is a certified mediator. He also counsels corporate clients face and serves as an adjunct professor of commercial law at Charleston School of Law. Earhart practices in the areas of construction law, insurance and toxic tort litigation.

Seibels Law Firm hired Jason Scott Luck to the firm’s Charleston office. Luck practices in the areas of intellectual property, construction litigation, title claims and insurance defense.

Michael J. Jordan has been hired as an associate at the Steinberg Law Firm. He was most recently employed as a law clerk for the Steinberg Law Firm and has also been employed with various law firms in Columbia and Charleston.

Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP hired Ellis R. Lesemann in Charleston.

McAngus Goudelock & Courie LLC elected Regan Ankney, Brian O’Keefe, and J.D. Smith as members of the firm. Ankney joined MG&C’s Charleston office in 2001, O’Keefe in 2002 and Smith in 2004.
