Lisa Chambers has accepted the position of benefits coordinator for the town of Mount Pleasant. The town promoted previous benefits coordinator Meghan Kelly to personnel services officer.

 

Verizon Wireless has hired Linda Broderick as director of customer service for its Charleston Call Center. Before joining the Charleston Center, Broderick was director of the Wallingford, Conn., center.

 

Go To Team has hired production coordinator Dawn Nelson, who will help coordinate the company’s video production crews. Based in the corporate office in Charleston, she will be responsible for the daily hiring and crewing for all three offices in Charleston, Charlotte, N.C., and Raleigh, N.C.

 

Southland Landscape Corp.’s branch support center has hired Cindy Gardner as an administrative assistant. Gardner most recently served as the disaster restoration coordinator for ServiceMaster.

 

The Greenery has hired Joe Parkison as a construction supervisor and Tim Marsac as the director of marketing.

 

Jeremy Tunstill and Fitz Coker have purchased Quiznos on Rivers Avenue near Trident Technical College. Tunstill and Coker own the James Island and West Ashley Quiznos. The North Charleston Quiznos will be put under new management.

 

Help-U-Sell Real Estate has opened an office in Mount Pleasant. Help-U-Sell Lowcountry Lifestyle is locally owned and operated by Behren Kittrel and Kyle Copper.

 

J. John Barnhill and Martha A. Barnhill are partners of the newly formed marketing company Barnhill Associates LLC in Mount Pleasant. The firm encompasses all fields of communications, including advertising, public relations, publicity, public affairs and point-of-sale. 

 

Palmetto Detitling LLC is a new title service company based in Charleston. The company is involved in title research, title clearing, transfer, recording and title retirement for manufactured and/or mobile homes throughout South Carolina.

 

Midtown/Sheri Grace Productions opened The Charleston Acting Studio, a new school offering acting classes and stage makeup workshops on James Island in the Shops on Folly Road.  

 

Janet Collins has started a court reporting firm called J. Collins Reporting.

 

Jarrard Nowell & Russell LLC has hired Sherri Cocke as office manager. Prior to joining the firm, Cocke handled accounts receivable at National Bedding Company in Hawaii.

Poogan’s Porch has hired new executive chef Daniel Doyle. Doyle oversees the kitchen at this historic culinary establishment, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

 

J.Paul’z has hired new executive chef Dan Caruso. He has worked with Scott Crawford of the Woodlands, Brett McKee of Oak Steakhouse, and Chris Brandt of The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island.

 

André Guillet has joined McCrady’s as general manager.

 

Sarah O’Connell and Amy Payne have joined the local sales staff of the Family Circle Cup and Tennis Center. In their new roles, they will lead local sponsorship sales efforts not only for the Family Circle Cup but also for all other events held at the Family Circle Tennis Center and the Meredith Experiential Marketing Group on a year-round basis. Bob Moran, sales and business development director, will be involved in the development and sales of other events such as the More Marathon, Fitness Mind, Body & Spirit Games and AVP Charleston Open. 

 

Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina has hired new staff at the North Charleston Service Center and at Camp Low Country: Christine Clogston- Gordon as the office services specialist; Kathleen Jankowski as a field director; Jamie Mills as the camp ranger for Camp Low Country; Heather Trebil as the outdoor program specialist and resident camp director for Camp Low Country; and Michaela Watts as the older-girl program specialist.

 

The National Association for Continence has hired Jan Cooper to be responsible for all fund and membership development. Cooper has 20 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations in both health care and communications and academic institutions.

 

The Charleston Defense Contractors Association has hired Jessica Collett, its first full-time employee, as chief of staff. Collett was most recently an executive assistant for a local manufacturer.

 

The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce has promoted Emily Brown to innovation coordinator and has named Pennie Bingham vice president of business development. Brown was most recently innovation assistant at the chamber. Bingham will be in charge of business development and the innovation division at the chamber.

 

The Summerville Family YMCA has named Gary Lukridge, a 14-year veteran of the YMCA, as its CEO. The announcement ends a four-month national search for a successor to John Rhoden, who left in May to become the CEO for the YMCA of Coastal Carolina.

 

Peden Brown McLeod Jr. has become an associate at Elmore & Wall P.A. McLeod’s practice areas include construction law, insurance coverage and defense, medical malpractice and transportation litigation.

 

First Baptist Church School in Mount Pleasant has hired principal Thomas E. Reilly and guidance counselor Deborah Reilly for the middle and high schools. Thomas Reilly most recently taught at West Ashley High School and Wando High School. Deborah Reilly has been in the education field for more than 30 years.

 

Kristie Cumbee has been appointed career services adviser at ECPI College of Technology. Cumbee has more than 18 years’ experience in human resources. Most recently, she served as director of GoodPeople Staffing, a division of Goodwill Industries. ECPI also has hired

Dean Weaver as director of education. Most recently, he was the director of education at Sanford-Brown College.

 

Charleston County School District has hired Tanya Underwood as the principal of Pepperhill Elementary School. Underwood had served as assistant principal at C.E. Williams for five years.

 

Pinewood Preparatory School has hired Meredith Butterworth as a guidance counselor for lower- and middle-school students. Pinewood also has hired Cory Fuller as a lower-school teacher. 

 

Century 21 Properties Plus Inc. has hired Benjamin Flood, Stacy Calloway and Denny Calloway as real estate agents in the North Charleston office, Bobby Walker as an agent in the Summerville office, and Elizabeth Meyer as an agent in the Mount Pleasant office.

Tiffany Crowley-Smoak has joined Linhart Realty LLC as a residential specialist.

 

Prudential Carolina Real Estate has hired Rees Johnston in Mount Pleasant, Barbie Jackson in Summerville, and Deborah A. James in West Ashley.
