C of C office will forecast region’s economy

The College of Charleston’s School of Business and Economics has established the Office of Economic Analysis, which will partner with the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce on its annual economic forecasting project.

The office will also work with the school’s research programs, including the Office of Tourism Research and The Carter Center for Real Estate, on analysis and interpretation of economic data and trends to better understand the regional economy.

Data produced by the office will be presented at the regional chamber’s Annual Economic Outlook Conference, which presents the business community with new information about the current business climate and economic trends for both the region and the nation.

As the office grows, it will consider developing a quarterly regional economic forecast, said Frank Hefner, director of the new office and professor at the college.
