The Sitting Room is the Charleston area’s newest full-service interior design firm, specializing in high-end residential and small commercial projects. The firm owners are husband and wife team Brady and Heather Marz. Heather Marz will serve as principal designer.

 

Freshfields Village welcomed its newest restaurant Pizzeria Venti. The Italian eatery features a range of menu items, including appetizers, soups, salads, baked pastas and pizza.

Angie’s List has expanded into the Charleston market. Consumers can go to www.angieslist.com to rate local businesses. The list is offering a free one-year membership to residents of the Charleston area.

 

Richard Scales joined First National Bank as a customer service representative at the East Bay Street office. He previously was employed as a financial services representative at Southcoast Community Bank and has two years of banking experience.

 

Emily Smith joined Ameris Bank as a personal banker in Charleston. Smith previously was employed with The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island. At Ameris Bank, Smith will be responsible for business development and account servicing.

 

Glasspro Inc. hired Courtnea Wilhelm as an internal sales representative, Felipe Mendoza as an auto glass technician and Aaron Ingalls as a senior auto glass technician. Wilhelm previously was a customer service representative.

 

John Prim was promoted to webmaster at Bosworth Interactive, the Web marketing division of The Bosworth Group. Prim, who joined the agency last year as a programmer and search engine optimizer, now oversees development, hosting, optimization and maintenance for all Bosworth’s client Web sites.

 

Advertising Service Agency, founded in 1931 as South Carolina’s first advertising agency, welcomed two new members to its staff: Laurie Hull as account director and Shannon Band as account coordinator.

 

WCSC-TV promoted Andy Pruitt to sports managing editor. Pruitt has been with the WCSC team since 2004, when he joined as a weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter for Live 5 News.

 

Tiffany Cain joined Goff D’Antonio Associates as an intern architect. 

 

Andy Scharnitzky joined Woolpert as a project director in the Charleston office. In this role, he will be responsible for directing the management and budgets of multiple projects. Scharnitzky joined Woolpert after 14 years of commercial and residential experience with site design for the private sector.

 

Jeremy Cook, of James Island, has joined Tobias & West LLC as a structural designer. Cook is Engineer-in-Training certified. He previously worked as a field engineer at Construction Inspection Administration Inc. of Charleston.

 

Charleston RiverDogs All-Star relief pitcher David Robertson was promoted to the Tampa Yankees of the Class-A Advanced Florida State League. The RiverDogs fill the vacated roster spot with Bryan Villalona, who was a co-leader in wins for the team in 2006.

Advanced Hearing Care hired audiologist Nicole Lynch.

 

Emily Buchheit was promoted to program director for Lutheran Hospice’s Mount Pleasant office. Prior to her promotion, Buchheit was Lutheran Hospice’s admissions social worker for both its Mount Pleasant and Ladson offices. She previously held positions with People with Disabilities Inc., the University of South Carolina Office for Sexual Health & Violence Prevention and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. 

 

Trident Health System hired Mark Meiler as the medical director at Trident Senior Health Center. Meiler brings more than 30 years of experience in family medicine and has been practicing geriatrics since the late 1980s.

 

Pete L. Bailey joined C.R. Hipp Construction Inc. as vice president of operations. Bailey has more than 20 years of mechanical construction experience.

 

Landmark Construction Co. Inc. hired Bob Haltom as its new safety director. Haltom has been involved in construction safety for more than 20 years. 

 

Erin Bloxham joined Pinewood Preparatory School as director of development and communications. Bloxham brings with her expert knowledge in the fundraising and communications fields.

 

Sally Stroud was named associate dean for academics at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Nursing. Stroud will provide leadership in managing all facets of the academic nursing programs, including faculty and student affairs, program coordination, resource development and allocation, marketing and public relations.

 

Courtenay M. Fain was named director of development of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina. Fain will be responsible for CCF’s development efforts, including building and maintaining relationships with donors and community leaders. 

 

Elizabeth McRae Hamer joined Trident United Way as community issues management coordinator.

 

Prudential Carolina Real Estate hired the following new agents: Bruce D. Mullen at the Ashley River Road office, and Stephanie Davis, Philip and Amanda Riley and Dianne Newton at the Metro North office in Goose Creek.

 

The Charleston area division of Ryland Homes promoted Susan Faulk to sales counselor at its Taylor Plantation community near the Ashley River, and hired Brent Campbell as community sales assistant, Scott Wurst as community sales assistant, and William Dunagan Jr. as an intern and builder’s assistant.

 

Pat Vedra was named director of active adult housing with David Weekley Homes. Vedra most recently led the development of Del Webb Active Adult Communities with Pulte Homes in Dallas/Fort Worth.
