Anthony Ford joined Glasspro Inc. as a Level III Auto Glass technician. Courtnea Wilhelm joined Glasspro as internal sales representative. Prior to joining Glasspro, Wilhelm was a customer service representative.

 

The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce hired Catherine “Clay” Gilbert as public policy/regional advancement manager. Gilbert was the public relations manager for the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce.

 

Angie Ping joined The Citadel Foundation as director of annual giving. Previously, she served as director of development at Purdue University and regional marketing coordinator for Regions Bank in Lafayette, Ind. 

 

Fish restaurant hired Nico Romo as executive chef. Romo brings more than 13 years of culinary experience to the position.

 

Richard Scales joined First National Bank as a customer service representative at the East Bay Street office in downtown Charleston. He was previously employed as a financial services representative at Southcoast Community Bank in Charleston.

 

Karst Inc., a locally based promotional marketing company, hired Katie Vigneron as marketing assistant. Vigneron will help manage the administration of Karst and assist with creating promotions and branding for clients.

 

Rawle Murdy promoted Renee Napierala as media director. Napierala has been a part of the Rawle Murdy Associates team since May 2006 when she joined as senior media planner. 

 

South Carolina economist Oliver G. Wood Jr. of Columbia has been named economist-in-residence at the Charleston School of Law. Wood has been a consulting economist for attorneys since 1969 in several legal areas, including cases involving personal injury, business loss, punitive damages, family law and employment termination.

 

Trident Regional Education Center hired Patricia Ferguson as coordinator. Ferguson and the center’s advisory board will coordinate career development within the region by creating partnerships between businesses, students and educators.

 

Angel Gomez, Santina Martino and Gabe Csizmadia joined the property management team at Avocet Properties on Folly Beach. Gomez previously was reservations supervisor for Resort Quest at Kiawah Island. Martino previously was assistant property manager for Islands West Real Estate. Csizmadia joined as director of property management. Csizmadia started his career with Kiawah Island Golf Resort as a guest service supervisor, and has experience in hospitality and property management.

 

Jason Ward joined Landmark Enterprises Inc. as a development manager. Ward will manage the real estate development projects of a new commercial real estate development division known as Landmark Development. This new division of Landmark Enterprises Inc. will focus on build-to-suit commercial projects and concentrate on all types of commercial/industrial real estate development in the Greater Charleston Area.

 

George “Gem” McDowell Jr. joined Moore & Van Allen as a partner in the Charleston office. McDowell practices in the firm’s business law division.

 

Blend, owned by Mel Goldstein, opened on the corner on Ashley Avenue and Doughty Street. The concept of Blend is the combination of a traditional restaurant that also offers made-to-order take-out for all menu items. Executive chef and partner Matthew Niessner created a menu that places emphasis on high quality and fresh ingredients.

 

The Itty-Bitty Bookworm, owned by Tara Rison, is a new, North Charleston company looking to change the way parents educate children at home. The program is subscription-based and once enrolled, participants receive monthly education kits.

 

GEL Engineering LLC hired Cameron Baker as a design engineer in the civil engineering group and Jack Finney as business development director, and promoted Jeremiah McMichen to project surveyor.

 

CRG Engineering Inc., a multi-discipline firm located in North Charleston, hired Dan Lail as construction administrator. Lail has more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry working for state, federal, and educational construction. 

 

Jordan Jones & Goulding hired William H. “Bill” Young as regional office manager. Young is a civil engineer with 14 years of experience in all facets of construction and management of civil engineering projects including water & wastewater. He previously worked for Resolution Management Consultants Inc. William “Bill” Westfall has been named a senior associate of the firm and is a senior project engineer with 30 years of experience in environmental and process engineering.  William W. “Will” King has been named an associate and has seven years of experience as a process design engineer.

 

Summerville Homes LLC hired Cheryl Smithem and Arnold S. Goodstein II and promoted George Hinerman. Smithem is vice president for marketing and, previously, she worked at Cognetix Advertising and Marketing as a senior account executive. Goodstein will serve as vice president of strategic planning and is a licensed real estate agent. Hinerman accepted the job of vice president of production.

 

Buck Lumber and Building Supply Inc. hired Tim Hurd as business development manager for its new Summerville lumber yard and sales center, scheduled to open in 2008. Hurd comes to Buck Lumber from Atlanta, where he served as a divisional sales manager with Southern Staircase. 

 

The Noisette Co. LLC hired Anne S. Lawless as director of asset management and Bess B. Du Bois as receptionist and office assistant. Lawless previously worked for Jova Daniels Busby as senior associate and vice president of marketing. Du Bois’ previous experience includes serving as an office assistant at Retail & Investment Property Advisors, in addition to working at both Wachovia and Carolina First banks.

 

Beth Pierce Meredith joined the Council on Competitiveness. Meredith was formerly with the S.C. Department of Commerce.

 

Meghan Kelly joined the town of Mount Pleasant as the personnel services officer. Kelly brings to the position more than 17 years of experience in the human resource field, two of those years as the town of Mount Pleasant benefits coordinator.

 

Nell Hinchey has been named the new program manager for the Charleston Digital Corridor. Hinchey replaces Kimberly Taylor who relocated to Columbia.
