The Lowcountry Graduate Center hired Steve Barry as technology manager, Nakisha Scott as administrative assistant and Chris Duncan as marketing coordinator.

 

Port City Custom Homes promoted George Breeden to senior project manager for the firm’s downtown projects. Breeden specializes in building 4,000- to 7,000-square-foot homes. Breeden joined the firm in November 2006.

 

Beazer Homes hired Amy Cann as an accountant and Mac Evans as a land

analyst.

 

The Charleston area division of Ryland Homes promoted Jamie Cowart to customer service supervisor. Cowart will oversee 12 of Ryland Homes Charleston area communities, manage four warranty technicians and schedule subcontractors for warranty service. Most recently, Cowart has served as the customer service administrator, assistant builder and warranty technician.

 

Joey Runey was promoted to project manager with The Cornerstone Co. of Charleston, a local design-build commercial contractor.

 

Leopardo Construction hired Michael Powers, a seasoned architect and construction manager, joined the company as project manager. He will work out of the Southeast regional office in Charleston. Powers has more than 25 years of experience in all areas of construction, with a primary focus on education, office, industrial, health care, retail and interiors projects.

 

The Charleston area division of Ryland Homes hired six staff members to the sales team in Nelliefield Plantation, Arbor Walk, Pembroke, Myers Mill, Shinnecock at Wescott Plantation, Taylor Plantation and Brickhope Plantation communities: Stephanie Begonja as a sales assistant at Nelliefield Plantation off Clements Ferry Road, near Daniel Island; Susan Faulk as a sales assistant at Arbor Walk and Pembroke Communities in Mount Pleasant; Lisa Clay as a sales assistant for the Myers Mill community of Ryland Homes; Tara Selbo as a sales counselor for Shinnecock at Wescott Plantation community in North Charleston; Joann Hicks as a sales counselor for the North Charleston community of Taylor Plantation; and Julio Quinonez as a sales counselor in the Brickhope Plantation community located in Goose Creek.

 

Carolina Youth Development Center hired Linda Naert as publications and communications coordinator. Naert, has been in the nonprofit field in Charleston for more than three years, most recently at Goodwill.

 

Biton, downtown Charleston’s first two-story department store boutique, opened at 275 King St.

 

Sprout Maternity and Infant Boutique opened at 916 Savannah Highway and carries maternity and infant brands.

 

Comerica Bank opened on Bowman Road in Mount Pleasant. Michael McCarty and Xina Stewart, veterans of Comerica and captive insurance industry specialists, will manage the office.

 

Charleston-native Debbie Orvin has opened La Bella Vita Skin Care Salon in West Ashley. Orvin is a former Estee Lauder regional makeup artist, beauty adviser and counter manager.

 

Chef Ed Keneipp opened Paradise Catering & Personal Chef Service. Paradise Catering & Personal Chef Service brings a variety of services to the table, from intimate in-home gatherings, receptions, open-house and cooking classes to provisioning the beach house or villa.

 

The Sprout – A Healthy Deli-Café and Juice Bar opened in Mount Pleasant. It offers 100% organic, read-to-go food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Sprout is located in EcoFitness at 627 Johnnie Dodds Blvd.

 

Chef Fred Neuville opened the Fat Hen restaurant. Fat Hen, paying homage to Charleston’s Huguenot culture with a menu of French-inspired Southern fare, will be located at 3140 Maybank Highway. on Johns Island in the small cottage once home to the St. Johns Island Café. Previously he was the executive chef of 39 Rue de Jean, Coast and Good Food Catering.

 

The Charleston Shucker Co. opened in Mount Pleasant and specializes in personalized, engraved oyster knives. Owner Lindsey Ballenger established the Web-based business.

 

Nicole de la Cretaz has been named the marketing coordinator for Holy City Hospitality and responsible for advertising and public relations for this downtown restaurant group.

Kain Cameron joined WSUY-FM 96.9 on May 7.

 

Circa 1886, a AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant, hired Emily Cookson as the new executive pastry chef. Prior to joining Circa 1886, Cookson served as assistant pastry chef at Woodlands Resort and Inn, a five-star, five-diamond restaurant in Summerville, and, prior to that, she served as assistant pastry chef at The Charleston Grill, a four-star, four-diamond restaurant in downtown Charleston.

 

Good Food Catering hired Andrea Jones as a catering sales manager. Andrea previously worked for both small- and large-scale catering companies as well as in event planning in the Charleston area.

 

Wachovia Insurance Services Inc. hired Donna Bedenbaugh as a personal account executive, Matthew Cochrane-Logan as a property and casualty producer and Melissa K. Wells as a commercial account manager. Bedenbaugh will manage the servicing of clients’ personal insurance needs and develop the client base, and she previously served as the South Carolina marketing representative for an automobile insurance carrier. Cochrane-Logan will focus on existing accounts and work toward generating new account activity, and he previously served as regional manager for Virginia Inn Management Inc. Wells will work with the commercial lines team in support of producers to provide property and casualty insurance services to clients, and she previously served as an account representative with another local Charleston agency.

 

Bruce D. Mullen has joined Prudential Carolina Real Estate on the Ashley River Road. Previously, he worked in retail management for Doscher’s Food Stores. 

 

Chris Burrell joined CC&T Real Estate Services as a development manager. Burrell’s prior experience involved working in the construction industry in Greenville, S.C., Birmingham, Ala., Washington, D.C., and Charleston. Jennifer R. Hadwin joined CC&T Real Estate Services as the office coordinator and technical support. Hadwin previously worked in time-share sales for Fairfield Properties in Myrtle Beach.

 

First Realty of Charleston hired Randal G. “Randy” Maatta as business operations manager. He will direct the building of a new headquarters, the opening of new branch offices throughout the region, the branding and marketing of a new corporate name and brand, and the eventual addition of a commercial real estate division. Maatta rejoined First Realty after a one-year sabbatical, in which he ran for Congress in the 2006 campaign. Prior to the campaign, Maatta worked for one year as a broker for the firm, after returning to the Lowcountry from Washington, D.C.

 

Zeus Inc., a manufacturer of high performance polymer extrusions, promoted Bob Ballard to vice president of research and strategic business development, Jamie McLean to vice president of corporate business systems, and Rob Hall to vice president of engineered extrusions. Hall and McLean have been with the Orangeburg-based company for 17 years each and Ballard has been with Zeus for nine years.

 

James M. Holland was promoted to market president for Regions Bank in Charleston. He will be responsible for commercial relationship building in the area. Holland, with 24 years of commercial and corporate banking experience, has been with Regions Bank in Charleston since 1996 serving as senior commercial lender and sales manager.

 

Rory G. Parsley was promoted to financial center manager at First Federal on Harborview Road, James Island. She has 28 years of financial services experience, all with First Federal, and was previously the assistant financial center manager at the Folly Road office. Karen Barrett joined the commercial lending division at First Federal as a commercial loan officer. She is an experienced commercial lender, and serves the business communities of West Ashley, James Island and the Charleston peninsula. 

 

Superior Transportation Inc. promoted Lawrence Puckhaber to vice president. Lawrence Puckhaber began his career at Superior eight years ago as a dispatcher. 

 

Richard P. Moore joined Kestrel Horizons LLC as a partner in the firm. He is based in Kestrel’s new office in Charleston. Moore has 20 years experience in environmental consulting.

 

Georgia Operations for Southland promoted Chad Ragan to maintenance operations manager. Prior to his promotion, Ragan was maintenance account manager for the Warner Robins-Byron area. Georgia Operations for Southland hired Stan Sullivan as director of business development, Pablo Catala as construction operations manager, and Chris Barnes as director of marketing at the Branch Support Center in Charleston.

 

Obie Morant joined Glasspro and will manage the company’s Goose Creek Car Wash at 608 St. James Ave. Morant is responsible for all Car Wash operations and customer service. Prior to joining Glasspro, Morant owned and operated a retail store and worked in the entertainment industry.

 

Planning the Globe hired Alexandra Haynes. She brings 10 years of hands-on events planning experience in New York with Merrill Lynch, ING Financial Markets and UBS Investment Bank.

 

S&ME named two new vice presidents in Charleston office’s board of directors: William “Billy” Camp, a senior geotechnical engineer and technical principal, and James Killingsworth, a certified hazardous materials manager who heads the branch’s environmental department.

 

Carolina First promoted Drew Holst to banking officer. Holst joined Carolina First in September 2005 and is currently a branch manager on James Island. Prior to joining Carolina First, he was employed at branch manager for QC Holdings.
