Julius J. Anderson Jr. of Anderson Insurance Associates LLC, Kathy D. McKay of McKay Stelling & Associates, and Russell G. Parker of Riley & Associates Inc. have been elected to serve on the board of directors of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of South Carolina. Anderson was elected to a two-year term as the chairman-elect and treasurer. Parker was elected to a three-year term on the IIABSC board of directors. Jensen was elected chairman of the board for 2006.

The newest leaders of the Mortgage Lenders Association of Greater Charleston were recently installed. The officers are Chuck Stuart, First Federal of Charleston, president; Susan Durschel, Susan Druschel & Associates, vice president; and Candice Nicodin, The Bank of South Carolina, secretary/treasurer. The board of directors’ members were also installed: Daniel Vallini, Harvey, Casterline & Vallini LLP; Nancy Green, Countrywide Home Loans; Rhonda Marcum, Carolina Mortgage Services Inc.; Todd Huss, First Federal; Bill Degner, Triad Guaranty Insurance Corp.; Debra Farr, First Federal; Suzanne Howard, Franklin American Mortgage Co.; and Joan Paulling, Community First Bank.

B. P. Barber & Associates Inc. announced the election of John D. Peake Jr. to the firm’s board of directors. Peake, a 33-year veteran of the firm, is a vice president in the Columbia headquarters office with responsibility for the major client group and the managing supervisor for several production sections.

The Francis R. Willis SPCA board of directors retired several previous volunteers, including Margaret Bailey, Suzie Davis, Pixie Melfi, Tammy Rutland, Patty Walton and Merle Handelsman. Handelsman was also named an emeritus board member and presented a plaque for a Lifetime Guardian Angel. To replace retiring members, the SPCA membership elected Ann Baughman, a retired school teacher; Liz Graham, marketing and membership director, Summerville Family YMCA; Stephen Jackson, administrative assistant, J. Henry Stuhr Inc.; Kevin Patrick, owner, Piazza and Piazza Home; Tiffany Provence, Dorchester County Judge of Probate; Erin Thomas, owner, Low Country Pet Sitters; and Susan Williams, attorney, First Circuit Solicitor’s Office. They will serve with members Harrison Bell, Downs Byrd, Dr. Glenn Haynes, Scott Henson, Jennifer Queen and Walter Cuthbert Jr. In addition, new officers were named: Provence, president; J.J. Messervy, vice president; Rodney Profit, first vice president; Holly Patterson, secretary; and Lee Tupper Hill, treasurer.

The Mount Pleasant Business and Professional Association reelected Margaret Cotton, director of advertising for Charleston magazine, as its new president. Chuck Diggle, publisher of the base newspapers for the Charleston Air Force Base and the Naval Weapons Station, was reelected vice president. Diane Pauldine, co-owner of Direct Marketers of Charleston, was reelected as secretary. Lynda Boals, director of business development of Southcoast Bank, was reelected as treasurer. Committee chairmanships filled or reappointed include Paul Heinauer, GlassPro, Program/Speakers; Darcy Midtvedt, Charleston Regional Business Journal, Membership; Val Zweifel, Stephen Russell and Associates Architects, Education/Charity; Sonya Giffin, Strategic Partner, Community Issues and Development; Christopher Cisneros, Zafari Inc., Special Events; and Brent Hill, association CPA.

Jane Riley and Earl Capps have been named to the Trident Workforce Investment Board. Riley, executive director of Communities In Schools of the Charleston area, is a representative of Charleston County. She is chairman of the Mayor’s Commission for Children, Youth and Families, and a member of the Charleston Rotary Club. Capps, who will represent Dorchester County, serves as event coordinator for the Lowcountry Republican Breakfast Club and is chairman of the Lowcountry Utility Coordinating Committee.
