Cathy Burns, Milon Smith, Tony Young and Jim Bedsole have joined Tidelands Bank. Burns has been promoted to assistant vice president. She was previously employed by SouthTrust
Bank for 16 years and was hired in March as an executive assistant and assistant secretary to the board. Smith is the chief credit officer. He was previously employed by Peoples Bank in Aiken and Bank of America and has more than 32 years of banking experience. Young is a vice president and a commercial lender. He will manage the West Ashley branch. He previously worked for Regions Bank and SouthTrust Bank and has more than 27 years of banking and finance experience. Bedsole is a senior risk manager. He has more than 19 years of experience in managing bank regulatory compliance and bank auditing programs.
Marcus White and Travis Howard have joined New South Mortgage as mortgage consultants. White is a graduate from The Citadel with a degree in business administration. Howard has experience in treasury management and cash forecasting.
William Turner has been named assistant vice president by the National Bank of South Carolina. Turner works as a commercial lender in the Mount Pleasant office.
Raven Mortgage Bankers has named Scott Sterling as production manager for its retail division and senior loan officer for its Mount Pleasant office. Sterling has five years of experience in loan originations.
Daniel J. Schnauthiel was named a partner with WebsterRogers LLP. Schnauthiel specializes in providing business valuation and merger and acquisition negotiation assistance. He has experience in the banking, health care, construction and real estate, retail, manufacturing and telecommunications industries. Schnauthiel previously worked for a national valuation firm and with the economic and financial consulting division of Andersen Worldwide.
Brad Russell has joined RBC Centura Bank as a commercial business analyst for the Charleston market. Russell will be responsible for assisting commercial account managers in preparing financial statements and credit risk packages.
Laurie S. Herrington and Stuart H. Nofsinger have both been promoted to managers at Gamble Givens and Moody LLC. Herrington has experience in auditing, accounting and tax engagements with an emphasis in auditing of both private and governmental entities. She also has experience in consulting related to South Carolina incentives. Nofisinger has experience in tax, accounting, cost segregation and business valuation engagements. He serves on the manufacturing, construction, cost segregation and tax compliance teams.
Rick Farrell, Alex White, Shellie Polk, Lindsay Bryan and Travis Traxler have joined Pratt-Thomas&Gumb, CPAs tax department. Each will concentrate on tax preparation and planning. Farrell previously worked for Carolina Heating Products Inc. in Mount Pleasant. White, a masters degree candidate in the College of Charlestons accountancy program, holds bachelors degrees in accounting and economics. Polk previously worked for Outsource Financial in Mount Pleasant. Bryan previously worked for H.W. Owens Inc. in Richmond, Va. Traxler has several years of public accounting experience.
Wachovia Corp. announced that Juan Austin was named community affairs manager for North and South Carolina, overseeing all corporate and employee philanthropy activities in the region. A 20-year Wachovia employee, Austin has held several executive positions in the company, most recently serving as a senior internal business solutions consultant and senior vice president in the banks wealth management division.
Pamela Robinson, Anna Evans, Andrew Mosier, Brian Graham, Larry James, Aparna Choudhury, Kelly MacPherson, Denise Janove, Amy Breeland and Megan Casey have joined the staff of Charleston magazines. Robinson joins as financial manager. She brings more than 10 years of experience in public accounting. Evans joins as an editorial assistant. She previously worked as an editorial intern for Charleston magazine. Mosier joins as an assistant editor. He comes to the magazine as a nationally published writer with more than 10 years of experience. Graham joins as a Web developer. He has more than four years of Web and print design experience and was formerly with Evolve Productions. James joins as distribution coordinator. He previously worked as merchandising assistant for Spoleto Festival USA. Choudhury joins as advertising traffic manager. She comes to the magazine with three years of experience in public relations, marketing and new business development. Janove joins as senior account representative. She previously worked for JES Publishing, publishers of Salt Lake and Boca Raton magazines, in Salt Lake City. MacPherson joins as an account executive. She previously worked for BMG/Sony in California as an account executive licensing production music for film and television. Breeland joins as manager of new product development. She will focus on development of new southern city magazines, as well as special projects for Charleston magazine. She previously worked as an intern for the magazine. Casey joins as style assistant. She has more than five years of experience in the retail and styling industries. Casey previously worked for MTV in New York as a wardrobe assistant.
Sandra S. Corson has been named vice president of Rawle Murdy Associates. Corson, who joined the firm 19 years ago, will continue as director of finance and administration, and manages all of the firms financial affairs, including the company benefits and 401(k) programs, and oversees the office systems and equipment needs. As vice president, she will further concentrate on Rawle Murdys financial affairs and human resources needs.
Lori Farnum and Jerry Cahalan have joined Cognetix Advertising and Marketing. Farnum is an art director with eight years of advertising experience. She previously worked with Rawle Murdy Associates and with Photo FX and TBC ad agency in Baltimore. Cahalan is a new business development director who was formerly associated for four years with Adams Outdoor Charleston as an account executive. Cahalan was also an account executive with Mayflower Movers for three years.
WCSC-TV announced the appointment of Chad Watson as the new morning news meteorologist and Jim White as the local sales manager. Watson will be the meteorologist weekdays on Live 5 News this Morning and Live 5 News at Noon. He was previously the chief meteorologist at KAIT in Jonesboro, Ark. White brings more than
13 years of local television sales and management experience with Charlotte, N.C. stations WCCB and WBTV. He also has 10 years of experience working on the national sales level.
E. Boineau & Co. has added Kristen A. Johnson to the team as an account executive. Johnson previously worked as a public relations associate for Home Team Communications Inc. in Charleston. She has also worked for Southern Progress Corp., a division of Time Warner Inc., in Birmingham, Ala., in the marketing and promotions department of Southern Accents magazine.
Trio Solutions Inc. announced Stephanie Davis has joined the company as creative director. Davis will manage the design and implementation of the companys advertising and marketing communications efforts, as well as client projects. She previously worked as a freelance art director in Fayetteville, N.C.
Sara Price Powell has been named advertising director for The Daniel Island News, and Elizabeth Bush joins as a freelance writer. Powell has served as the vice president of domestic media and co-op advertising for Warner Bros. Pictures in Los Angeles, where she developed and supervised the implementation of media plans to support the openings of Warner Bros. 30 domestic theatrical releases annually. Bush has five years of journalism experience and previously worked as a communications specialist for Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, Pa.

Byrd previously worked in residential and commercial security sales for ADT. Perry previously worked as an engineering technician. Simmons background includes work as a golf caddy on Kiawah Island and assistant manager at Giovannis. Polak was previously a private investor and worked as a regional manager. Allen, who will specialize in residential sales, previously worked in the hospitality/culinary industry and in medical sales and customer service.
ERA Tides Realty announced the hiring of Russell Tatum, Brad Hager, Melissa Myhren, Karen Biggs, Demetra Gonzalez and Katharine Salzgeber as real estate agents. Tatum, who will work in the Summerville office, previously worked with Headden Husley LLC building homes. Hager has been a full time realtor for seven years and is licensed in both South Carolina and Florida. Myhren worked for many years as an early childhood educator and liaison between private and public educators. Biggs has lived in Charleston for 13 years and will work out of the Summerville location. Gonzalez also works for Conner Home Builders and brings her knowledge of the home building process to her work as an agent. Salzgeber previously worked for Accenture Learning in Highlands Ranch, Colo., developing computer and online-based training for Avaya University.
Thomas R. Silver has joined the Palmetto Commercial Properties team as a broker. Silver previously worked in the Medical University of South Carolinas computer department as a network systems engineer.
Gloria Blancato has joined Coldwell Banker Coastal Properties in its Summerville office. Blancato has an extensive background in telecommunications after having spent more than 20 years with AT&T in both voice and data sales and as a business development manager supporting the New England states.
