The Charleston Regional Development Alliance board of directors honored three community leaders for their critical role in forming the organization during the early 1990s: Jim Rozier, Berkeley County supervisor and county council chairman; Keith Summey, mayor of North Charleston; and Ben Cole, the organization’s first CEO.

Josh Williams, a financial services representative with The South Carolina Agency, has received the Certified in Long-Term Care designation. Conferred by The Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification Inc., the CLTC designation is earned though successful completion of a multidisciplinary course that focuses on the long-term care profession.

The Noisette Company LLC will award four public schools in North Charleston with its Example of Excellence awards. Academic Magnet High School was honored this spring as the 10th best high school in the nation by Newsweek magazine and received the Palmetto Gold Award. Chicora Elementary School earned the National School Change Award from Fordham University Graduate School, Pearson Education and the American Association of School Administration. The Child and Family Development Center of the Charleston County School District won national accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. North Charleston Elementary School was the first elementary school in South Carolina to register with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.

Jeffrey S. Tibbals, an attorney in Nexsen Pruet’s Charleston office, has been selected for the 2006-2007 class of Leadership Charleston. Tibbals has a broad base of litigation and trial experience, including complex tort and contract litigation, real estate litigation and class actions.

Charleston Trident Home Builders Association’s Sales and Marketing Council has selected its 2007 board of directors: Michael Futeral, G&S Home Remodeling, president; Sarah Burke, Sabal Homes, vice president; Jason Esposito, Eastwood Homes, treasurer; Lindsay Tyler, Prudential Carolina, secretary; Darlene Tyler, Countrywide Home Loans, program chair; Diana McAbee, Prudential Carolina, publicity chair; Angie Johnson, Daniel Island Real Estate, membership chair; Taffoy Martino, Prudential Carolina, education chair; Debi DeCusatis, Centex Homes, ambassador chair; and Reyne Mitchell, Beazer Homes, special events.

The following local lawyers have been honored by their inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2007: Rosen Law Firm LLC’s Robert Rosen and Susan Rosen; Young Clement Rivers LLP’s William J. Bates, C. Michael Branham, Robert L. Clement Jr., Wallace G. Holland, Michael A. Molony and J. Rutledge Young Jr.; and Steinberg Law Firm’s Tom White and David Pearlman. Inclusion in the national list is based on a peer-reviewed survey of 1.8 million confidential evaluations. The publication also conducts thousands of interviews with leading attorneys.

The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce recognized the winners of the Sustainable Charleston awards. Sustainable Charleston awards companies that embrace the Lowcountry while preserving for future generations the beauty, vitality and quality of life in the region. The companies selected were: Brentwood Homes Inc. for small business; LS3P Associates Ltd. and Just Fresh Café and Market for business partnership; the S.C. Aquarium for nonprofit; Half-Moon Outfitters for visionary; and Fisher Recycling for overall achievement.
