Thomas & Hutton Engineering Co. hired Kathy H. Jones as director and chief marketing officer. Previously, Jones was vice president, corporate auditor and a board member for Honda North America Inc. in Torrance, Calif.
Soil Consultants Inc. hired Greg H. Tedder as their director of business development and promoted Ronald R. Austin to vice president. Tedder was formerly an associate engineer with Santee Cooper.
Construction & Contracting
Beazer Homes hired Jenny Sain and Michael Friend as assistant new home counselors. Sain, who previously worked for Blackbaud Inc. on Daniel Island as director of recruiting, will serve the Moss Grove community. Friend, who previously worked with Prudential Carolina and Ocean One Realty, will serve the Hunters Bend community.
Education
Steffanie Godsill has been promoted to deputy executive director for development at The Citadel Foundation. Godsill previously served as director of corporate and foundation relations.
The S.C. Sea Grant Consortium hired Sara Roth, Chris McMillan and Elizabeth Rogers. Roth, who previously worked at the Monongalia County Health Department in Morgantown, W.Va., joined as an administrative coordinator. McMillan, who most recently served as an accountant for Waccamaw Regional Transportation Authority, is an accountant/fiscal analyst. Rogers is the consortiums marine educator and is also curriculum specialist for the Center for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence-Southeast. She was previously employed with the American Geological Institute as a curriculum developer.
Daniel Island Academy hired Chad Vail as operating partner. Vail was previously responsible for developing and operating three Pretzel Twister locations in the Charleston area.
Barnali Choudhury and Craig R. Senn joined the Charleston School of Law as assistant professors, and the school named Nancy Zisk associate dean for academic affairs. Choudhury, who previously served as a research consultant with the World Trade Institute in Bern, Switzerland, will join as an international law professor. Senn, who will teach contracts, was previously employed by Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans. Zisk was an assistant professor in the area of torts.
Economic Development
The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce promoted five staff members: Mary Graham, senior vice president, public policy/regional development; Pennie Bingham, vice president, innovation; Janet Newham, senior vice president, membership development; Phillip Owens, senior vice president, business development; and Erin Pabst, coordinator, public policy/regional development.
Finance
Brian Kornahrens has joined Carolina First Bank as branch manager for its James Island office. He was previously a financial specialist with Wachovia in Mount Pleasant.
Community FirstBank hired Luke Blackmon as vice president and manager for their new location at 8485 Dorchester Road. Blackmon has more than 20 years management experience with Bank of America, where he most recently served as vice president and manager of the Summerville office.
Scott Warren has joined First National Bank as vice president and commercial banking officer in the loan production office located on Daniel Island. Warren, who has more than seven years banking experience, previously worked for Wachovia.
Noah Pruitt has joined Raven Mortgage Bankers as a mortgage consultant in the retail loan department. Pruitt was formerly employed with Aquatic Pros, Paul Davis Restoration and Daniel Island Club.
Flint Schuller has joined Carolina Capital Management as a financial services representative. Schuller, who has been in the financial services industry for 11⁄2 years, was in the United Sates Army for 12 years.
Kathy Hall was promoted to vice president of retail branch administration at Harbor National Bank. Hall, who has 12 years of experience in the banking industry, will manage all operations for the bank branches and will continue to serve as branch manager at the West Ashley branch.
Health Care
Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health System added Dr. Walter Hiott and Dr. Alex McDonald to its medical staff. Hiott will serve as the medical director of youth services and will provide outpatient psychiatric services to children and adults for Palmetto Behavioral Health Solutions. McDonald will provide inpatient adult psychiatric services and will also have an outpatient practice focusing on adult psychiatry with Palmetto Behavioral Health Solutions.
Releva MD, a family-owned medical practice specializing in non-surgical back and neck pain relief, named Jonathan Fischer as president and Dr. Carol Benoit as medical director for the North Charleston location. Fischer previously served as an IT professional for Alliant Energy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The Pet Care Place hired Bob Carlson to provide veterinary services at its affordable spay/neuter clinic. Carlson came to Charleston to work with the South Carolina Aquarium before becoming a staff veterinarian with the John Ancrum SPCA Spay Neuter clinic. He went on to the position of executive director of the SPCA.
Hospitality & Tourism
Sally Davis has joined Charming Inns Inc. as the director of corporate sales. Davis has seven years experience in the hospitality industry.
Law
Jimmy Denning has joined McNair Law Firm PA as special counsel specializing in business and corporate transactions as well as intellectual property matters. Denning, the former principal attorney of Denning Law Firm LLC, previously served as general counsel for Charleston-based manufacturing and service companies.
Media & Marketing
The Charleston Regional Business Journal, published by Setcom Media, Inc. , promoted Lisa Jones to chief financial officer. S.C. JobNetwork, a service of Setcom Media Inc., promoted Georgeanne Lund to sales team leader and hired Heather Jordan and Kira Caudill as account executives. Jones formerly held the title of business manager and will continue her duties managing the administrative staff in addition to her new role as CFO. Lund previously served as an account executive for the S.C. JobNetwork. Jordan, who previously worked for Randstad, has five years experience in sales. Caudill previously worked for the Event Mall and has four years experience in sales.
E. Boineau & Co. hired Melissa A. Pluta as an account executive. Pluta, who has five years of combined editorial and marketing experience, previously was the editorial and marketing assistant at The Nautical & Aviation Publishing Co. in Mount Pleasant.
Shawn Moffatt has joined Go To Team as operations manager. Moffatt, who has 12 years experience in broadcast production, most recently worked for WCSC-TV as operations supervisor.

Ordered Bliss LLC changed its name to Blissfull Living LLC to reflect a more holistic approach to de-cluttering all aspects of home life in order to create a more positive and healthy lifestyle.
Life Cycle Engineering opened a new educational facility as part of The Life Cycle Institute. The new campus is 6,000 square feet and is located at 4360 Corporate Road in Charleston.
Chef James Burns opened james burns catering, a full-service catering and event planning company. Services include: party planning for home, office or location of your choice and creation, design and development of tailor-made occasions.
Nonprofit
Historic Charleston Foundation hired Winslow Hastie as director of preservation. Hastie previously worked as the senior preservation planner for Charleston in the department of design, development and preservation, and has worked closely with Charlestons Board of Architectural Review.
The Charleston Miracle League hired Melissa P. Fuller as executive director. She is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the league and implementing policies approved by the leagues board of directors. Fuller previously worked for the Medical University of South Carolina, where she was responsible for developing, planning and implementing special events for more than 2,000 students.

Coldwell Banker Coastal Properties hired Lee Ann Edwards as a real estate agent in its West Ashley location.
Atlantic Island Properties hired Kristina Connolly and Samantha Ensign as real estate agents and Gregory Ensign as a broker associate.
AgentOwned Realty hired Betsy Michaels as a real estate agent in its Mount Pleasant office.
John Hadden and Bob Studebaker have joined Coldwell Banker Commercial Atlantic International Inc. as commercial agents. Hadden has 18 years of combined sales experience and specializes in industrial, land and office real estate. Studebakers experience includes retail development, historic restoration and 15 years in industrial sales.
Weichert, Realtors-Dean Kelby hired several new agents: Ernest E. Duck Hissom Jr., Robin Hudson and Jon Shattuck in the Charleston office; and Sandy Cargile and Patty Wright in the Mount Pleasant office.
The Masters Co. hired Matt Warren and Jack Gumb as real estate agents. Prior to joining The Master Co., Warren worked for Batten & Moore and Gumb worked for Charlestowne Management Hotels. In addition, Ernie Masters, president and CEO of The Masters Co., moved his offices to the Rice Mill Building located at 17 Lockwood Blvd.

Jenni Beard has joined Illumicom LLC as a Web developer. Beard has been involved in marketing and Web site design for more than 20 years, most recently completing an international project to upgrade the House Rabbit Societys Web site.
Enterprise Technologies Inc. hired Skye Suarez as an account manager. She most recently worked for ITC Deltacom as a NEC sales representative for more than five years.
