The Construction Network of the Carolinas honored Sen. Glenn McConnell as Legislature of the Year. Stuart Whiteside of Seamon Whiteside and Associates was named incoming chairman, and O.L. Thompson of O.L. Thompson Construction Co. was presented an award for his efforts as the inaugural chairman for the network.
For the second consecutive year, Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd PA has been recognized by the American Heart Association, Lowcountry chapter, as the top fundraising law firm in the Lowcountry Heart Walk. The 2005 Heart Walk had more than 3,700 walkers on 350 different teams and raised a record-setting $415,000 to support AHAs research.

Lauren Ferderigos, an interior designer with Stephen Russell & Associates Ltd., received an Honors Award from the American Society of Interior Designers, Carolinas Chapter, in the category Corporate, under 7,000 square feet for the Sherman Capital Markets LLC project. The honor was presented in Charlotte at the ASID Carolinas Chapter 2005 Design Specialty Awards luncheon.
Life Management Center Inc. announced the three recipients of the 2005 Volunteer of the Year Award: Todd Brown, president of RBC Centura Bank; Lois Ruggiero, head of Ashley Hall Middle School; and Louisa Shingler, a community volunteer. This award originated in 1997 to acknowledge the dedication, hard work and time spent by individuals to advance the mission of the LMC.
Noah Moore, director of juvenile diversion programs for the Ninth Judicial Circuit Solicitors Office, was awarded the Volunteer Administrator of the Year award by the Lowcountry affiliate, South Carolina Association for Volunteer Administration at a reception at the Governor Thomas Bennett House.
Samuel R. Clawson of Clawson & Staubes LLC was a featured lecturer to 175 members of the New York Bar Association for Bridging the Gap. This program is required for all newly-admitted lawyers to the New York Bar. Clawson spoke on direct and cross-examinations of lay witnesses.

Bill Jacques of American Inspection Services has attained the designations of Certified Home Inspector and Master Inspector from the S.C. Association of Home Inspectors. The designations are awarded to recognize a commitment to professionalism, continuing education, involvement with professional associations and length of service in the profession. Jacques has performed more than 12,000 inspections in his 17 years in the profession and has acquired more than 20 hours of continuing education credit each year.
