General Engineering & Environmental LLC hired Joseph E. Coffey Jr. as operations manager. Most recently, he worked in Albany, N.Y., where he managed Earth Techs Albany office
FINANCIAL
Joseph A. Kucharski joined New South Mortgage Corp. as the branch manager for the Charleston office. Kellie LaPlante joined the company as a loan officer.
Ray Marcoux and Maureen Kilbreth joined the Mount Pleasant office of Raven Mortgage Bankers. Marcoux was formerly the co-owner of Mortgage Trust and joins Raven as senior mortgage consultant in the retail lending division. Kilbreth, also the former co-owner of Mortgage Trust, joins Raven as head of the processing department.
Raven Mortgage and Mortgage Trust merged their operations. In addition, Ellen McCartney has joined the staff as a mortgage consultant in the retail loan department. She was formerly with Nationwide Financial Group.
Jack Freeland joined New England Financial/Carolina Capital Management as a financial representative.
South Carolina Federal Credit Union promoted H. Scott Blue to vice president of marketing. He has been with the company since April 2004 as marketing department manager.
MEDIA AND MARKETING
Home Team Communications public relations firm hired Annie Byrd public relations associate. She previously worked for Kravet Inc., a home decorative company in California, as the customer service and sales representative in the showroom.
E. Boineau & Co., a strategic marketing communications and public relations firm, promoted senior team member Lyn Mettler to account director. Mettler, who has been with the company since 2002, manages a variety of accounts and handles writing, as well as media research, strategy and placement for those clients.
ABC News 4 has added two reporters to its staff. Shawn Kochinsky previously was a general assignment reporter at WJWJ in Beaufort, S.C. Melissa Reynolds most recently worked for WCYB in Bristol, Tenn.
Sue Gordon was promoted to senior account executive at the Charleston Regional Business Journal. Also, Bob Bouyea joined the Business Journal as executive editor. He previously was editorial director for LRP Publications, a business-to-business publishing company in Florida.
AllPoints Research in Winston-Salem, N.C., hired Kay Harwood as a qualitative research discovery consultant and moderator to support the marketing research firms pharmaceutical, health care, agribusiness and small animal health clients. She will work out of Charleston. Previously, Harwood was with Marketing Analysts Inc.
TECHNOLOGY
Leslie Baker was named human resource specialist for the Sprint Stores in the companys North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia coastal markets. Previously, Baker worked in the human resource departments at Blackbaud, ING and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Also, Carolyn Hardwick was named property and construction manager of the Sprint wireless network in the companys coastal Carolinas and coastal Georgia markets. Most recently, Hardwick worked for the Charleston County School District.
INSURANCE
Guy LaCoss joined The Ferguson Nationwide Insurance Agency as an associate agent. LaCoss was formerly with Charleston Southern University.
NONPROFIT
Trident United Way hired three new staff members. Dr. Bonnie Bella, former chief executive officer of Carolina Youth Development Center, is the new vice president of children and youth initiatives. Angelia Turner is director of grants management, research and evaluation. She previously was a criminology professor at the University of South Carolina and Benedict College. She is also the former owner of Turner Consultants. Laurie Brinson is communications coordinator. Brinson, an Air Force veteran, recently received her masters degree in communication from Mississippi College.
Erik Backe of Concurrent Technologies Corp., a nonprofit corporation that assists industry and government, relocated to CTCs Charleston office from the companys Missouri office. He joined the company last year after 22 years in the U.S. Army.
Kathleen Brophy was promoted to senior director of corporate relations for the American Heart Association, overseeing events in the Charleston and Hilton Head markets as well as an employee-giving campaign with MeadWestvaco. Brophy has been with the association four years.
NEW BUSINESS
Dana and Wescoat Sandlin opened Advanced Solutions Dispute Resolution Services LLC in Summerville. The firm will handle mediation and arbitration of disputes involving contracts, construction, property, land use and business matters.
Christopher T. Cunniffe opened Harbor City Real Estate Advisors LLC, a real estate brokerage firm with offices in Mount Pleasant. Cunniffe previously worked in New York and Charleston as a commercial real estate attorney.
Andra L. Watkins, certified public accountant, started Positus LLC, focusing on specialized consulting projects for small to medium-sized businesses. She is a former executive with Pratt-Thomas Epting & Walker.
HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM
Charming Inns promoted English Nagy to director of sales. Nagy has been working with Charming Inns and Circa 1886 Restaurant for three years. In addition, Linn Lesesne is director of public relations and group sales for Charming Inns and Circa 1886 Restaurant. Lesesne joined Charming Inns 10 years ago in sales and marketing.
The Market Pavilion Hotel appointed Adam Kaylor as sales manager. He will focus on managing room sales for the hotels corporate and leisure accounts. Previously, Kaylor worked in the Hotel Plaza Athenees sales and marketing department in New York.

Former First Judicial Circuit Solicitor Robert D. Robby Robbins joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough with an emphasis on white collar criminal defense and corporate governance.
