Michele Shinn was named executive vice president for the Association for Continuing Higher Education at the association’s annual conference in Newport, R.I. Shinn is director of the career, personal and professional department in Trident Technical College’s Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development.

 

Charleston Trident Association of Realtors installed new leaders during its annual holiday gala at the South Carolina Aquarium. Ruthie Smythe, broker-in-charge of Lane & Smythe Real Estate, is president. Alexander “Sandy” Stone III, broker-in-charge of Island Realty on the Isle of Palms, is president-elect. John W. “Wil” Riley III, ABR of Century 21 Properties Plus is vice president of finance. David Kent, accredited buyer representative, accredited buyer representative manager of The Real Buyer’s Agent is vice president of administration. New directors also were installed at the banquet: Pam Bishop of Prudential Carolina Real Estate; Lauree Bradway of Lauree Bradway and Associates; and Steve Young of Coldwell Banker Coastal Properties. Returning directors are Angela Black of Daniel Island Real Estate; Ann Essig-Marconi of Exit Realty Professionals; Kerry Jacques of Exit Lowcountry Realty; Casey Murphey of Daniel Ravenel Real Estate; Mike Schmitt of Norton & Sanford; and Rob Woodul of Keller Williams Charleston/West Ashley. Those serving the board in an ex-officio capacity are Jimmy Carroll, of Carroll Realty, immediate past president; Jeremy Willits of BarkleyFraser.com, Multiple Listing Service president; Dave Finn of RE/MAX Professional Realty, MLS vice president; Hagood Morrison of The Beach Co., president of the commercial investment division; Max Hill Jr. of RE/MAX Realty Services will serve as an honorary member.

 

Philip Lader, a partner with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, has been named to Harvard Law School’s board of visitors. Lader also is a former U.S. ambassador to the Court of St. James’s and was a member of President Clinton’s cabinet as head of the U.S. Small Business Administration. He earned his law degree from Harvard in 1971.

 

Dr. William Hueston, chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, was elected president-elect of the South Carolina Academy of Family Physicians.
