Palmetto Commerce Park tenants grow
Pattillo Construction, one of the Southeasts leading industrial and warehouse builders, saw the potential of the Palmetto Commerce Park.
It entered into a deal with Spring Grove Partners to build speculative industrial buildings in the park, said Steve Dykes, Charleston County economic director.
FoodHandlers recently leased the first of these buildings, approximately 200,000 square feet.
Pattillo has now started work on three additional speculative buildings within Palmetto Commerce Park.
The firms now occupying the commerce park include:
DaimlerChrysler: beginning 2006; will employ 220.
Holset Turbochargers: under construction; will employ 180.
Shimano: under construction; will employ 35.
FoodHandlers: up-fitting the Pattillo speculative building; will employ 31.
MTU Driveshafts: employs 200 employees.
Thyssen Krupp Presta SteerTec: employs 50.
Three other firms are located in Carolina Commerce Park, a satellite park under different ownership located off of Palmetto Commerce Parkway.
The current Palmetto Commerce Park road extends about 1 1/2 miles, with a shorter leg known as Future Drive branching off along the route of the former Heape Road.
