Glasspro donates to the Red Cross for Katrina victims

The donation represents Glasspro’s commitment to contribute 100% of the revenue generated at the Glasspro Car Wash in Goose Creek from Sept. 2-5 to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina. The total also included contributions from Glasspro employees.

RiverDogs, fans raise money for hurricane victims

Fans attending the Sept. 1 RiverDogs-Braves game made a minimum donation of $3 for a Hawaiian lei as part of the evening’s beach theme to benefit the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, raising $3,985. Charleston general manager Dave Echols announced that the RiverDogs’ organization would match that figure and will send a check in the amount of $7,970 to the fund.

Humanites Foundation, James Doran Co. give money, housing to Katrina victims

Humanities Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing, and James Doran Co., a Daniel Island-based real estate investment and development company, are pitching in to help the thousands of people in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi affected by Hurricane Katrina. Each company will contribute $50,000 to the hurricane relief efforts. The Humanities Foundation is also making available 37 one-bedroom apartments in Shady Grove Apartments for people 55 years and older who lost their homes due to the hurricane. Another 65 units will be made available in the coming weeks in Port Royal.
