New Jersey company relocates to Charleston area
The AM Conservation Group Inc., a supplier of weatherization, water and energy conservation products, relocated its corporate headquarters to the Charleston region. Their distribution facility will also relocate to the area in spring 2006.
The company moved from Hackettstown, N.J., to space in Berkeley Countys Charleston Regional Business Center on the Cainhoy Peninsula.
AM Conservation Group president, Paul Cutler, noted the regions quality of life as instrumental in the companys final relocation decision. The company also considered Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C.
AM Conservation Group currently employs nine in its corporate office and expects to add 11 new positions. The Charleston facility will serve administrative, manufacturing and distribution functions.
Company officials expect to begin the hiring process in early fall 2005 and expressed interest in securing local talent and working with local vendors and suppliers.
Established in 1989, AM Conservation Group Inc. develops, manufacturers and distributes professional grade products specifically for the conservation industry. Products include energy-efficient lighting, insulation products, water-saving showerheads, faucet aerators and toilet tank devices.
Modulant Inc. to provide data support for Defense Logistics Agency
Charleston-based Modulant Inc. recently announced it would partner with Accenture to replace the existing Defense Logistics Agency Product Data Management capabilities with a SAP implementation.
The new contract could have a total value of more than $60 million, if all options are exercised. Under the contract, Modulant will provide data collection, analysis and other implementation efforts in data translation, data mediation, data mapping, architecture, integration and other related tasks.
The Accenture team will provide software engineering solutions and services, as required by the Defense Logistics Agency in Fort Belvoir, Va.
Established in 1989, Modulant provides software solutions and services for application migration automation.
Local company changes name
The Charleston-based company Espresso South announced that it has changed its name to the Sixteen70 Group. The company, a local coffee roaster, provides coffee and tea service to local and regional restaurants. Sixteen70 Groups growth during the past 11 years prompted the name change.
Our new name is taken from the year Charleston was founded1670, said company owner Kurt Weinberger. We are proud to be a Charleston company, and we chose our name to reflect that pride.
Weinberger added that the name change offers new possibilities for his business. We are no longer limited by our name in the products and services that we can offer, he said.
