Jim Coman has joined Glasspro Inc. as general manager. He will be responsible for the daily operations of Glasspro’s seven auto glass replacement and repair centers in the Lowcountry. Previously, he spent six years in sports administration and 10 years with Sicco Commodities. Kim Grace has joined the company’s accounting department at its Mount Pleasant headquarters. Previously, Grace had accounting positions with Accountemps in Mount Pleasant and PC Connection in Merrimack, N.H. Sarah Mason has also joined the accounting department in a newly created accounts payable/facilities clerk position. Previously, Mason had administrative and accounting positions in Charleston and Columbia, S.C.

 

REAL ESTATE AND CONSTRUCTION

 

Carr Properties LLC has hired Mike Szemly as property manager. Previously, he served as a regional property manager and has 11 years experience in retail property management and development.

 

Buddy Hilton has joined the Gulf Stream Construction Inc. team and will work with the building division as a senior project manager. He has more than 30 years of professional construction management experience. Reuben M. Cheat­ham has joined the construction estimating group. He has experience in construction management and pre-construction services for health care, industrial and office projects. 

 

Don John Hays joined Century 21 Properties Plus Inc. as a Realtor working in the Metro North Charleston office. He is retired from the Treasury Department and has seven years of real estate experience.

 

Janice Pastore was named assistant sales manager of the Century 21 Properties Plus Inc. office in Summerville. She has been with Century 21 since 2001.

 

 

 

The Mount Pleasant office of AgentOwned Realty has hired four new staff members. Anthony Coombs has an associate’s degree in business administration and is working toward his bachelor’s degree in business. Charlie Suggs will specialize in investment property, waterfront property and fine residential communities. Most recentl, he was at Air Force Command Headquarters near Washington, D.C., where he served in the Special Forces and was a computer systems expert with the unmanned aerial vehicle program. John D. Royer has more than 15 years experience in Fortune 500 financial services companies in both management and consulting. Ashley Ullrich is a member of the Isle of Palms Exchange Club and the South Carolina World Trade Center.

 

Jeff Akers, a 14-year veteran of managing resort rental and hospitality operations, has joined Dunes Properties of Charleston Inc. in real estate sales. He has previously worked at Wild Dunes and Kiawah Island resorts.

 

Glen Bise has joined Gulf Stream Construction Co. Inc. as upfit and renovation project manager. He has more than 22 years of professional experience.

 

Bobbie Branch has joined Century 21 Properties Plus Inc. as a Realtor working in the Mount Pleasant office on the Isle of Palms Connector. Previously, Branch was production planner for Acterna, a telecommunications manufacturing company in Salem, Va.

 

Miles West has joined Lone Oak Development Inc. as special projects director. Previously, he was director of multimedia development for NetbookPro in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

 

Michael L. Wooddy and Jennifer Tyler have joined the I’On Group, formerly Civitas. Wooddy previously worked for the real estate development firm Levin Co. Tyler has more than 10 years experience in business and real estate management.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Fastenal Co., a full-line distributor of industrial and construction supplies, has opened a new store at 412 E. 5th North St. in Summerville. Mike Marlowe is store manager and Leslye Smith is the assistant manager. Marlowe has been working as an assistant manager in Mount Pleasant before becoming manager of the Summerville store.

 

Fitness Together Charleston LLC, a new personal training studio that is part of the Fitness For Life Corp., has opened at 1136 Hungryneck Blvd. in Mount Pleasant. The studio is owned and operated by brothers Brian Durbin and Joshua Durbin.

 

FINANCIAL

 

Charleston Capital Mortgage has hired Annya Komarovskiy as a marketing consultant. She is a senior at the College of Charles­ton who is majoring in sociology. Previously, she worked at Integrated Property Logistics Group as a marketing advisor.

 

South Carolina Federal Credit Union has named R. Scott Woods its new president and chief executive officer. Woods has served as interim CEO and chief financial officer since January 2004. He joined the credit union in April 1999 as the vice president of finance.

 

Laurin McGee has joined the Mount Pleasant office of Raven Mortgage Bankers as a mortgage processor in the retail lending division. She has two years of mortgage lending experience.

 

NONPROFIT

 

Concurrent Technologies Corp., a nonprofit corporation that assists industry and government, has hired Richard Enten as the local facility security officer. He is retired from the U.S. Air Force.

 

Crisis Ministries has hired several new staff members. Missy Barnes is director of development and community relations. Previously she worked for the Charleston County School District and The Education Foundation of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. Nicole Bulone has been named development coordinator. She has experience in marketing, sales and media relations. Vortia Jones is finance and administrative assistant. Jones has more than 20 years of office management experience. Richard King has been named to the new position of director of facilities. Previously, he was a field technician for Mobile Communications of Charleston.

 

Quinetha Frasier has been named grants developer for Lowcountry Housing & Economic Development Foundation Inc. Frasier formerly was a grant writer for Talladega College in Alabama.

 

MEDIA AND MARKETING

 

Margaret Cotton has joined Charleston magazine as director of advertising for Charleston magazine, Charleston HOME and Charleston Weddings. Most recently, Cotton worked for the Charleston Regional Business Journal as an account executive.

 

ARCHITECTURE

 

Liollio Architecture has named Rick Bousquet as a principal and shareholder of the firm. He has more than 18 years of management and architectural experience and seven of those have been with Liollio.

 

ENGINEERING

 

David P. Niesse has joined Mount Pleasant Waterworks as engineering support division manager. He previously was a senior consultant with Resolution Management Consultants Inc., a construction manager with Charleston County’s Department of Capital Projects, and project manager and engineer with B.P. Barber & Associates and Allen & Hoshall Inc.

 

HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM

 

The South Carolina Aquarium has hired Catherine Marshall as marketing director. Most recently, Marshall was program manager for the American Marketing Association Foundation in Mount ­Pleasant.

 

Jessica Anderson has joined Planning the Globe as office manager. She previously worked for the Vector Group as a securities representative.

 

Karen Johnston has been hired as the general manager of McCrady’s. She worked at the dining room at Woodland’s Resort for five years and then became manager of Tristan prior to joining McCrady’s.

 

INSURANCE

 

First Carolina Insurance Associates Inc. has hired three new staff members. Ron McCann is chief financial officer/chief information officer. He has more than 24 years experience in accounting and information technology. Cindy Vest is commercial account manager. She has more than five years experience specializing in commercial lines. Meredith Adams is business development manager. She has a background in marketing and business development.

 

EDUCATION

 

Trident Technical College has named John C. Snowden vice president for continuing education and economic development. He is responsible for managing the Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development, which provides services to improve the competitiveness and quality of the area’s businesses. Previously, Snowden was vice president of North Charleston Operations Kraft Division for the MeadWestvaco Corp.

 

TECHNOLOGY

 

UEC Electronics and UEC Automation has hired Tom Mefferd as lead mechanical designer. He has more than 30 years experience in mechanical and robotic design.

 

Home Telephone has named William S. Helmly president and chief operating officer. He has been with the company 12 years, having served as vice president of engineering and most recently as executive vice president.

 

PERSONAL CARE

 

Spa Adagio has hired Paula Miller. She has a background in skin care therapy and guest services. She and her husband previously started and managed a day spa/bed and breakfast in Maine. Miller also is the former director of sales and marketing for Embassy Suites and former national sales manager for Omni Hotel at Charleston Place.

 

Kari Maastricht has joined Niki Leigh Spa Products as director of operations and special events with a focus on the birthday party business. Maastricht has seven years of marketing experience.

 

INDUSTRY

 

Thomas Gallagher has been named president of MBM Corp. He served as vice president/general manager for 12 years. William S. Goldè, former president for nearly 40 years, retired last fall. Two other promotions include Ned Ginsburg, from chief financial officer to senior vice president and chief financial officer, and Michael Venittelli to senior vice president of sales from national sales manager.

 

FUNERAL SERVICES

 

McAllister-Smith Funeral Home has added three staff members. Erin Willis is funeral director ap­prentice; Gregory Robertson is a licensed funeral director; and Marisol Ferdinand is an executive administrative assistant.

 

LAW

 

Michael B. McCall II has joined Clawson & Staubes LLC. A 2004 graduate of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, McCall will practice civil litigation.

 

Mark Davis and Anne Marie Hagood have been elected as members of McAngus Goudelock & Courie LLC. The firm also has added William Thomas “Tom” Bacon IV and Amanda M. Morgan as associates in the Charleston office.
