Mashburn Construction Company Inc. announced two new additions to their Charleston division. David B. Trapp has joined as a project manager. Trapp comes to Mashburn with 16 years of experience in architecture and construction. Brady Cauthen, a graduate of Clemson University, joins Mashburn as a field engineer.
LS3P Associates Ltd. announced several new additions to its Charleston office. Alan Purvis is the director of the Community Studio, focusing on the design, development and management of public sector/institutional projects. Purvis brings 14 years of professional experience on national level projects throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast regions. Eric Garris is an intern architect and will be involved with the Venture Studio, primarily focusing on high-end development projects. Garris was previously employed with Milton Pate Architects in Atlanta, Ga. Ann Wells is an intern and will be working with the firms Discovery Studio. Wells previously was a project designer at Perkins Eastman + Healthcare Interiors. Kimberly A. Patterson is an executive assistant and will be responsible for office-wide organization and administrative tasks, corporate initiatives and special projects. Patterson was formally with Ellis Architects Inc. in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Clarence C. Hutto III has joined the engineering firm of Horner, Eelman & Gearhart Engineering Consultants as a structural engineer. Hutto has more than 23 years of experience in heavy structural design and forensic analysis associated with civilian and military projects throughout the eastern United States. He will lead the HEG structural section in the development of structural designs for heavy waterfront, industrial, institutional and commercial projects.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Sherry Rest has been promoted to director of client services with HudsonMann Inc. in Mount Pleasant. Rest holds a bachelors degree from Clemson University and the professional of human resources designation.
The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce recently promoted Shawn Edwards from internal operations manager to organization development director. Edwards will manage the chambers operations, direct the development of request for proposals for vendors, manage vendor relationships, coordinate logistics of meetings and events for the executive department and direct the chambers internship program. She will also orient new employees, manage the benefits activation for eligible employees, consider professional development programs for staff, direct full staff activities and events, supervise the activities of the customer service staff and effectively manage various human resource tasks.
FINANCE
Daniel O. Cook Jr., executive vice president and COO, Arthur State Bank, Clinton, became chairman of the South Carolina Bankers School on August 1. Before joining Arthur State Bank in 1997, Cook worked with M.S. Bailey & Son, Bankers from 1981-1997 and Elliott Davis from 1979-1981.
Tim Hall has joined Carolina Capital Management as a financial representative in the Daniel Island office and the Florence area. Hall most recently worked with First Choice Mortgage as a loan officer.
Pratt-Thomas, Gumb, CPAs announced the promotions to senior accountant in the following departments: Cheryl Waddell and Whit Kinder, audit; Missy Johnson and Antoinette St. Germain, litigation; Jackie Morrow, small business; Stacey Edge, Emmie Hershey, Susan Mitchum and Betsy Shaw, tax.
J. Alan Uram was named assistant vice president by The National Bank of South Carolina. Uram joined NBSC in January 2004 as a commercial lender in the banks Charleston Broad Street office.

Brook Griffin has joined Standard Precast Walls as the director of the companys marketing and sales efforts. Griffin was previously a corporate/professional relations and marketing associate at Prevecare in Charleston.
Bob LaBarge has joined Rawle Murdy as creative director, and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Rawle Murdys award-winning creative work. Prior to joining Rawle Murdy, LaBarge worked for Stern Advertising in Cleveland, Ohio.
Peggy J. Smith has been appointed business manager of Mount Pleasant-based SGM Architects Inc. Smith recently received her Certified Design Accountant accreditation from the Certified Design Accountants Association.
REAL ESTATE
Anchor Commercial announced the addition of Christine Mood as a property management associate. Mood will handle tenant requests and monthly reports.
James Doran Company, a real estate investment and development company based on Daniel Island, recently hired Lance Hagaman as a leasing representative. Hagaman will be responsible for leasing retail space at the companys downtown Daniel Island development, retail space for the companys Northshore Town Center project in Knoxville, Tenn., and its Winterfield Village project in Richmond, Va.
Dunes Properties announced three new reservationists, Christina McRae, Carol MacIlroy and Linda Little, in the vacation rentals division. Previously, McRae was a consultant with a medical staffing company and a basketball coach. MacIlroy has more than 10 years of experience in customer service and has held positions at Middleton Place and The Inn at Middleton Place. Little has previous experience in customer service.
Irene Smith and Sandy Hall joined Century 21 Properties Plus Inc. as real estate agents. Prior to joining Century 21, Smith was an English teacher for 10 years at State University in Russia. Smith will work out of the Summerville office. Hall was previously part of the nursing staff at the VA Hospital in Charleston. He will work out of the Johns Island office.

Former College of Charleston Provost Andrew L. Abrams has joined the full-time faculty of the Charleston School of Law. Abrams most recently served as the College of Charlestons senior vice president for strategic planning and administration and was also the colleges general counsel.

Crew Carolina LLC has promoted Leslie Wade to general manager of The Boathouse at Breach Inlet. Her responsibilities include managing the overall day-to-day operations of the restaurant, overseeing all operating procedures and managing all human resources tasks. Wade joined Crew Carolina in 2003 as assistant manager for The Boathouse on East Bay.

Scientific Research Corp. announced the promotion of Giles Fleming to vice president for Intelligence, Information & Surveillance Systems. Fleming is a Citadel graduate and has almost 40 years of experience in the military electronics arena.

Carolina Lanterns has opened a second store in the Lowcountry. The new store is located on Daniel Island at 162 Seven Farms Drive, Suite 300, next to the Publix grocery store.
Brandon Advertising recently announced the addition of the account planning department and Brandon Direct to their menu of marketing services offered to their clients in the tourism, golf, real estate, financial and medical sectors. Brandon Direct specializes in direct marketing services.

Trident United Way announced the addition of several staff members. Jocelyn Edwards is a campaign division director, responsible for fundraising in retail, technology and small business sectors. She holds a bachelors degree in business administration from the College of Charleston. Tom Walker is also a campaign division director, responsible for fundraising in the finance and education sectors. He recently completed a 35-year career with Good Year Tires, where he retired as general manager over Good Years Global Earthmover Tire Division. Ross Gemmer joins the United Way campaign team as a loaned executive for a fourth year. He recently retired after a 30-year investment-banking career. Jonathan Tuthill is also a loaned executive, helping coordinate TUWs summer pacesetter campaigns. Tuthill recently received his bachelors degree in Philosophy from the College of Charleston.

Kevin M. Sevier has joined the Troy Herndon State Farm Insurance Agency at 1711 Savannah Highway in West Ashley. Sevier was previously employed by State Farm Insurance as a claims representative for eight years. He will be an office representative focusing on providing insurance and financial services.

The Charleston Angler, Fly Fishing and Light Tackle Specialists announced the following new hires. Edward Oliver Humphries II is general manager. Humphries has more than six years experience in sales and management, and was formerly employed by Boaters World as a district manager in Houston, Texas. Lloyd Williams has been promoted to assistant manager. Williams is a licensed captain, a graduate of the College of Charleston with a degree in Corporate Communications and has three years of retail experience. Avram Kronsberg has been promoted to retail manager. Kronsberg has more than 50 years of experience is fishing and retail. Jonathan Travis Cooper is inventory and receiving control manager. Cooper is a graduate of the College of Charleston with a degree in Business Administration and has six years of experience in management and training. Joshua M. Whorton is a sales associate. Whorton has extensive experience in inshore and offshore fly-fishing and conventional fishing. Brandon Rivers is a programmer and Web page designer for TheCharlestonangler.com. Rivers has more than five years of experience in Web design. Phillip Eugene Adams Jr. is a sales associate. Adams has more than 30 years of experience in sales, fishing and reel repair.
Floral stylist Terry L. Hawkins has joined the staff at All Occasions, the party and event division of AAA Rentals. He brings more than 20 years of experience to this new position. Hawkins specializes in tablescapes, décor for weddings, sizeable celebrations and large open spaces.

Southern Golf Tours Inc., a golf package fulfillment company, announced the addition of David Abel as vice president of operations. Abel is responsible for the core and strategic operations throughout the company. He is joining Southern Golf Tours from PoliticsOnline, where he was editor and general manager.
