Gulfstream Construction Corporation Inc. was selected as the General Contractor of the Year for 2005 by the American Subcontractors Association of the Carolinas, Charleston Chapter.
Margaret Seidler, MPA, consultant and master trainer, Seidler & Associates in Charleston, and Dr. Barry Johnson, president, Polarity Management Associates, of Middleville, Mich., have been selected to present their most recent work at the Organization Development Networks National Conference in Minneapolis. Their presentation, Building & Sustaining Leadership Greatness Through the Power of AND!, will demonstrate how leaders can manage and benefit from complexity and ambiguity in the work setting by tapping into the natural tension of seemingly opposing forces.
Graphic design firm Julie Frye Design and Ashley Hall, a college preparatory school for girls in grades K-12, won an APEX Award for Publication Excellence for the 2004 Ashley Hall Annual Report. Melissa Harrison is the communications director for Ashley Hall.
Three students from Trident Technical Colleges cosmetology program won first place in the student division of the Fantasy Hair Competition July 30 at Gaillard Municipal Auditorium as part of the Beauty and Health Expo Weekend 2005. The TTC students, Teara Williams, student stylist; Erica Lincoln, student makeup artist; and Brittany Venning, student hair model; used a peacock-themed design. The winners received a trophy and will appear in a future issue of hair etc. magazine.
James D. Myrick, a principal in the law firm of Buist Moore Smythe McGee PA, has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2006. Myrick was selected for the category of personal injury litigation. This category includes defense and plaintiffs work.
Shelley Challoner of Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. recently attained the General Securities Sales Supervisor license. She is a College of Charleston graduate and has been with the company for more than five years.
